₹26 Lakh Scholarships Distributed to Needy Students at Akal Degree College
Mastuana Sahib, August 6, 2026:
A scholarship distribution programme was organised at Akal Degree College, Mastuana Sahib, on August 6, 2026, during which scholarships amounting to ₹26 lakh were distributed among needy and deserving students by the Sikh Human Development Foundation (SHDF), Washington, USA. The scholarships were presented by S. G. S. Brar, nominee of SHDF.
The programme was graced by Dr. Ravjot Grewal, SSP, Sangrur, as the Chief Guest. A large number of scholarship recipients attended the programme along with their parents and expressed their gratitude to the college management, administration, and SHDF for extending financial support to deserving students and enabling them to continue their higher education.
The programme commenced with Shabad Gayan, creating a spiritually inspiring atmosphere. During the programme, Dr. Amandeep Kaur, Principal, Akal Degree College, delivered a PowerPoint presentation highlighting the college's facilities, infrastructure, academic provisions, and various teams, cells, clubs, and student-support initiatives. The presentation provided the students, parents, Chief Guest, and SHDF nominee with an overview of the opportunities and facilities available at the college.
On the occasion, Professor Nisha, Department of Music, was also honoured for her contribution to music. She has been performing classical music on All India Radio, Jalandhar.
Addressing the gathering, Sardar Jaswant Singh Khera, Secretary, Akal College Council, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Sikh Human Development Foundation for its generous contribution of ₹26 lakh towards scholarships. He appreciated SHDF's commitment to supporting needy and deserving students and expressed hope that such initiatives would continue to benefit more students in the future.
The stage activities were anchored by Dr. Amandeep Kaur who concluded the program with a sense of gratitude and appreciation for the generous support provided by SHDF and the efforts of the college management and administration in promoting access to higher education.
