A startup Bootcamp was successfully organized jointly by the Institution's Innovation Council (IIC) and the Entrepreneurship Developement Cell ( EDC), in collaboration with the Foundation for Technology Business Incubator (FTBI), NIT Rourkela on 18th April 2026. The program aimed to inspire innovation, promote entrepreneurial thinking, and provide a platform for students to present their ideas, with opportunities for further support and incubation at FTBI, NIT Rourkela.
The event was graced by esteemed dignitaries including Prof. Mihir Hota, Dean Academics; Shri Chiranjibi Samal, CEO, FTBI; and Prof. Subrat Panda, President, FTBI, NIT Rourkela.
The dignitaries addressed the gathering and shared valuable insights on startups, innovation, and the importance of entrepreneurship in today’s dynamic world. Their speeches motivated students to think creatively and pursue their ideas with confidence.
A video presentation on FTBI further enriched participants’ understanding of the startup ecosystem and incubation support. The highlight of the event was the Interactive Session and Idea Pitching Competition, where students enthusiastically presented their innovative ideas before the panel. The session encouraged active participation and provided practical exposure to real-world problem-solving.
The program concluded with the Prize and Certificate Distribution Ceremony, recognizing the efforts and creativity of the participants.

A one-day workshop on “Practical Insights into Wireless Communication Systems” was organized on 28th March 2026 by the Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering. The workshop was graced by Dr. Arunanshu Mahapatro, Associate Professor, VSSUT, Burla, Odisha, as the Chief Guest, and Dr. Subrat Kumar Sethi, Assistant Professor, VSSUT, Burla, Odisha, as the Invited Speaker.
A total of 82 participants attended the workshop, including 17 participants from nearby institutes such as VIT Bargarh, BIT Sambalpur, and BDCET Jharsuguda. All participants actively took part in the two sessions conducted during the workshop and showed great enthusiasm throughout the program.

Silicon Institute of Technology, Sambalpur, successfully hosted its Annual Technical Festival, Techstasy 2K26, along with the Annual Cultural Function, Zreyas 2K26, on 18th and 19th March 2026. The event was graced by Prof. P. K. Mishra, former Director of Silicon Sambalpur, as the Chief Guest.
The Techstasy segment was inaugurated by Prof. Mihir Hota, Dean (Academics), and Dr. Simanchal Bag, Faculty-in-Charge of the Students' Council, marking the commencement of a wide array of engaging technical and non-technical events. These included Technical Roadies, Spell Bee, Quizmania, Panchayat, Robo Race, Dunk the Ball, Dart, Beach Volleyball, Gully Cricket, Non-Technical Roadies, Treasure Hunt, and Smash.
The academic report of the institution was presented by Mr. Biswojit Rout, Secretary General of the Students' Council, highlighting the institute’s key achievements and milestones. This was followed by the Techstasy certificate distribution ceremony and a series of vibrant cultural performances that added colour and enthusiasm to the occasion.
The second day concluded with an energetic DJ night, bringing excitement and celebration to a fitting peak. The event came to a graceful close with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Amlan Abhijeet Mishra, Secretary (Amenities), Students' Council, leaving participants and attendees with lasting memories of a successful and spirited fest.

The Literary Club of the Institute organised its annual flagship event, “Litterateur of the Fall 2026,” on 28th February 2026. The programme commenced with a welcome address by Prof. Mihir Hota, Dean (Academics), who highlighted the importance of literary engagements in nurturing creativity, critical thinking, and self-expression among students.
Dr. Pitambar Behera, Assistant Professor of English, Government Women’s College, Sambalpur, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and External Member of the Jury. In his address, he reflected on the role of literature in fostering a scientific temper, cultivating a rational outlook towards life, and encouraging a questioning spirit—qualities essential for holistic intellectual growth.

After a keenly contested series of performances, Ms. Ayushi Sharma (1st Semester, CSE) was adjudged the Winner and conferred the title “Litterateur of the Fall 2026.”
The programme was compered by members of the Literary Club—Mr. Sourav, Ms. Ashmita Soni, Mr. Oshan Khati, and Mr. Rishi Raj. The smooth conduct of the event was ensured by the dedicated efforts of other club members, including Ms. Alisha Patel, Mr. Rahul Pattnayak, Mr. Sachin Singh and Mr. Rudra Prasad Das, along with the members of the Students’ Council.

Project Expo 2026 (2nd Edition) was successfully organized by Codigo Plataforma and the Silicon Robotics Club, in collaboration with the Institute's Innovation Council (IIC) and the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) at Silicon Institute of Technology, Sambalpur on 26 February 2026.
The event provided a unique platform for students to demonstrate innovation, creativity, and technical proficiency. Participants presented a diverse range of software and hardware projects across various domains, including emerging technologies, automation, artificial intelligence, system design, and practical engineering applications. The expo enabled students to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world challenges while enhancing their analytical, technical, and presentation skills.
We were honoured to have Dr. Sanjib Kumar Nayak, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, VSSUT, Burla and Dr. Suvendu Narayan Mishra, Assistant Professor, Department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, VSSUT, Burla as our esteemed members of the jury. Their expert evaluation, constructive feedback, and valuable guidance significantly contributed to the academic and professional growth of the participants.
The evaluation process was conducted in a structured manner, with assessment criteria emphasizing innovation, technical implementation, clarity of presentation, problem-solving capability, and practical applicability.

The Graduation Day ceremony for the 2021–25 batch was held on 21 February 2026 at the institute premises. The event commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Mihir Hota, Professor and Dean (Academic), who shared his fond memories and experiences with the graduating batch.
Dr. Manas Ranjan Jena, Associate Professor of ECE, Faculty-in-Charge of the Examination Cell, and Convenor of the occasion, addressed the gathering and reflected on how the academic rigour and values instilled by the institute would guide the graduates in their professional careers and personal lives.
The graduating students were formally presented with their Degree Certificates. The ceremony concluded with a session during which faculty members and students shared their experiences and expressed their gratitude and aspirations for the future. Convenor Dr. Jena proposed the formal vote of thanks.

Model United Nations 2026
The Literary Club of the institute organised the Model United Nations 2026 on 21st February 2026 where students as delegates of 25 different nations reflected and debated on the following agenda of geopolitical interest and relevance.
1. International Peace and Security, Disarmament, and Conflict Prevention
2. Climate Change, Environmental Sustainability, and Sustainable Development
3. Global Economic Stability, International Finance, and Development Cooperation
4. Governance of Emerging Technologies, Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, and Innovation
5. Human Rights Protection, Humanitarian Affairs, Rule of Law, and Democratic Governance
6. Global Health Systems, Pandemic Preparedness, and Health Security
7. Food Security, Agricultural Sustainability, and Population Dynamics
8. Education Policy, Youth Development, and the Rights of Future Generations
Dr. Himanshu Sekhar Mishra, Assistant Professor of Political Science, Sambalpur University graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and Invited Member of the Jury. The programme unfolded in three rounds namely, Briefing the House, Open House and Jury’s Shoot.
Prof. Mihir Hota, Dean Academic welcomed the Chief Guest and the delegates, and shared his words of encouragement and appreciation in the inaugural session. The Chief Guest, Dr. Mishra, reflected on the need for such deliberations, which offer exposure to diplomatic dialogues on issues of geopolitical relevance. He also emphasized that politics and ethics are synonymous, making it imperative that political thought always resonates with ethics and values.
The Jury comprising Dr. Himanshu Sekhar Mishra, Dr. Sonalika Mishra, Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering, SIT Sambalpur and Dr. Simanchal Bag, Assistant Professor of Economics, SIT Sambalpur engaged with the deliberations. Moreover, the affairs of the house were conducted by Mr. Amlan Abhijeet Mishra (8th Semester, CSE) and Mr. Sourav (6th Semester, CSE) in the capacity of Secretary General and Honourable Chair of MUN 2026.
After the day’s deliberations, debates and reflections Mr. Rahul Pattnayak from 4th Semester, CSE representing Saudi Arabia was adjudged the Best Delegate of MUN 2026. All the participants were presented certificates of participation and the Best Delegate was presented the winning trophy, certificate of appreciation and cash prize. At the end of the deliberations the Chief Guest shared his impressions. Similarly, Mr. Amlan Abhijeet Mishra offered his note of appreciation and gratitude to all the delagates, members of the jury and the organising team. Eventually, Dr. Tyagraj Thakur, Associate Professor of English and Faculty Coordinator, Literary Club proposed the vote of thanks.

The much-awaited annual food festival “Zayka-ae-Tadka” was successfully organized at Silicon Institute of Technology, Sambalpur on 14th February 2026. The event was conducted by the Silicon Students' Council (SSC) under the mentorship of Dr. Simanchal Bag, Faculty in Charge, SSC.
The fest aimed to encourage creativity, teamwork, and culinary talent among students while providing a vibrant platform to showcase their cooking skills. The campus was filled with enthusiasm as various teams participated with innovative dishes, attractive presentations, and delightful flavors.
The event was honored by the presence of esteemed judges: Dr. Chinmayee Padhy, Dr. Biresh Kumar Dakua, Dr. Deepak Sahu and Mr. Bijay Shankar Tripathy. The jury carefully evaluated the participants based on taste, presentation, creativity, hygiene, and teamwork. Their valuable feedback and encouragement added great significance to the competition.
After a thorough evaluation by the jury, the names of winners were declared by Prof. Mihir Hota, Dean Academics and cash prizes were presented.

Silicon Institute of Technology, Sambalpur (Silicon West) organized its 15th Annual Athletic Meet, ATHLON-2025, on 20 December 2025 under the aegis of the Silicon Sports Club. The event aimed to promote physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship among students.
The programme was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Dr. Mihir Hota, Dean (Academics), with the ceremonial torch lighting, followed by a march-past by students from different houses. Various track and field events, including sprints, relay races, jumps, throws, and tug of war, witnessed enthusiastic participation.
Prizes were awarded to the winners, and the event concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Ashutosh Nayak, Secretary, Sports Club. The meet was successfully supervised by Dr. Biresh Kumar Dakua (FIC, Sports), Dr. Deepak Sahu (FC, Sports), and Mr. Sampada Kumar Pradhan (SPOC, Sports).
