Tholasampatti lake with a water spread area of about 100 acres is a major water body of the district. Some people have encroached the dry water spread area and constructed tiled houses.A few others converted the dry bed into fields and were raising crops for many years.The PWD authorities served notice on all thosewho had encroached intothe water body to remove the encroachments on their own, failing which it warned that action will be taken to forcibly remove them from the site.
A joint team of the officials of the PWD and Revenue department launched the work of removing the encroachments on 22.12.2016 Thursday. The authorities demolished some of the tiled houses using equipments. When some people opposed the move, the police pacified them.

தொளசம்பட்டியில், ஆக்கிரமிப்பில் இருந்த பல லட்சம் மதிப்புள்ள, 41 வீடுகள், இடித்து தரைமட்டமாக்கப்பட்டன. பாதிக்கப்பட்டபொதுமக்கள், அதிகாரிகளை முற்றுகையிட்டனர்.ஏரி மற்றும் நீர் நிலைப் பகுதியில் உள்ள ஆக்கிரமிப்புகளை அகற்ற வேண்டும், என்ற உயர்நீதி மன்ற உத்தரவுபடி, வருவாயத்துறையினர் ஏரி, குளம், கால்வாய் உள்ளிட்ட நீர் நிலைப்பகுதியில் ஆக்கிரமிப்புகளை கணக்கிடும் பணியை கடந்த மாதம் துவக்கினர். ஓமலூர் ஒன்றியத்துக்குட்பட்ட, தொளசம்பட்டியில் பொதுப்பணித்துறை பராமரிப்பில், 36.80 ?ஹக்டேர் பரப்பளவில் தொளம்பட்டி ஏரி உள்ளது. இந்த ஏரியை சுற்றி, ஓடு, தார்சு, கூரை என, 41 வீடுகள், மூன்று சிறிய கோவில்கள் ஆக்கிரமிப்புகளில் இருந்தது. அவற்றை கணக்கீடு செய்து வருவாயத்துறை நோட்டீஸ் வழங்கியது. இந்நிலையில், கடந்த Dec 22 அன்று காலை ஓமலூர் தாசில்தார் ராஜேந்திரன், பொதுப்பணித்துறை உதவி செயற்பொறியாளர் சவுந்திரராஜன் தலைமையில், அதிகாரிகள் ஏரிக்கு சென்று, ஆக்கிரமிப்பில் இருந்த வீடுகளை நான்கு ஜே.சி.பி.,மற்றும் மூன்று பொக்லைன் இயந்திரம் மூலம் இடித்து தரை மட்டமாக்கினர். பல வீடுகள், பல லட்சம் மதிப்பில் கட்டப்பட்டிருந்தது. பாதிக்கப்பட்ட மக்கள் அதிகாரிகளை முற்றுகையிட்டு, வாக்குவாதத்தில் ஈடுபட்டதால், போலீசார் குவிக்கப்பட்டனர். தாசில்தார் சமாதான பேச்சுவார்த்தை நடத்தினார். 25 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு மேலாக இருந்த ஆக்கிரமிப்புகளை அகற்றபட்டதாக அதிகாரிகள் தெரிவித்தனர். விரைவில், தொளசம்பட்டிஏரிக்கு எதிரே, நீர்ப்பிடிப்பு பகுதியில் உள்ள ஆக்கிரமிப்புகள் அகற்றப்பட உள்ளன. இவர்களுக்கு, நோட்டீஸ் வழங்கப்பட்டுவிட்டதாகவும் வருவாய்த்துறையினர் தெரிவித்தனர். துணைதாசில்தார் அருள், ஆர்.ஐ.,லதா, பொதுப்பணித்துறை உதவி பொறியாளர்கள் பிரசாத், பிரபு ஆகியோர் உடனிருந்தனர்.
