Udayan,is a school for Not-So-Fortunate kids in the rural areas of eastern Uttar Pradesh. The school and its management aims to cater to all kids in it's vicinity,irrespective of class,caste,religion and gender. Udayan's faculty is going to be different from what we see in prevalent education centres. The teachers here will interact and let learning take place instead of dumping syllabus on them.

Covid के दौरान उदयन के बच्चों को Dry Ration और सब्जी फल का वितरण
Ration में अरहर की दाल , आटा , चावल , तेल , मसाला , चीनी , चाय पत्ती , भुने चने , कच्चे चने , Soya बड़ी , मूंगफली , पोहा , आलू प्याज टमाटर हरी सब्जी इत्यादि दिया जाता है ।
हर हफ्ते एक Ration kit जो लगभग 5 लोगों के परिवार के लिए पर्याप्त होती है ।

ये ममता जी हैं । जी हाँ .....वही ममता । हमारी मिस photogenic ......
इनका एक गुण है । ये सवाल पूछती है । आवाज़ उठाती है ।
एक बार न जाने क्या मौक़ा था । उदयन में कहीं से मिठाई आई थी । थोड़े लड्डू थे और थोड़ी इमरती । भाई साहब ने बांटना शुरू किया । जाहिर सी बात है छोटे बच्चों को पहले मिला । इमरती पहले बँटा गयी । फिर लड्डू दियाने लगा । ममता ने विद्रोह का बिगुल फूंक दिया ।
अन्याय बर्दाश्त नहीं होगा । हड़ताल .......भूख हड़ताल .......हमको इमरती क्यों नहीं ?
अरे बेटा ......इमरती कम रहल । आज लड्डू खाय ला । इमरती अगली बार खाय लिहा .......
नहीं .......सारी इमरती उन्ही लोगों को क्यों बाँट दी .......
पूरा छल प्रपंच मान मनव्वल करनी पड़ी management को तब जा के ममता जी ने अनशन तोड़ा । उनको लड्डू खिला के किसी तरह हालात पे काबू पाया गया ।
कल ममता फिर मेरे सामने प्रस्तुत हुई । हमको भी चाहिए पानी की बोतल ।
लो भैया .....और हुक्म करो ।
ममता सबसे पहले आवाज़ उठाती है । सवाल पूछती है ।
अपना हक़ मांगती है ।
उसे सबसे अच्छा चाहिए ।
सबसे पहले वही विद्रोह भी करती है ।
सबसे ज़्यादा झगड़ा करती है ।
पिट जाए तो जार जार रोती है ।
और फिर रोते रोते अचानक प्रत्याक्रमण करती है । शेरनी की तरह ।
मुझे ममता में एक empowered woman दिखती है ।
वो जो अपने हक़ के लिए आवाज़ उठा सकती है .......लड़ सकती है ।

So it was our Raising Day today.
Many friends, mentors and well wishers turned up for the event, some from as far away as Diu.
The kids were beaming and their parents proud.
We, very happy. 😀😀
Some kids who come from afar were given bicycles and every family was given a quilt.

An year back they were a bunch of happy, hungry, naked kids. So carefree, did not even know if something was wrong with their lives.
Their lives and goals were small.
A group of friends thought they could do something with these kids.
Udayan was born.
We take care of these smiles. Try to feed them, clothe them and educate them.
Udayan is an year old today. Who thought we could last this long. We are celebrating 'Raising Day' to mark the anniversary.
Friends and well wishers and mentors..please try and be there to encourage these kids and also us. So that we last another year...many years
