To promote awareness of Indian culture and art among students, an Odissi dance performance by classical dancer Kavita Dwivedi was organized in Mini Land School, under the aegis of S**C MACAY.
The students welcomed the artists by applying a ceremonial tilak. Soon after, the much-awaited moment arrived when the renowned Odissi artists took the stage and mesmerized everyone with their graceful dance and expressive acting through performances like Shiv Vandana – Vande Shambhu and Krishna Leela, depicting the playful act of butter (Makhan Chori).
On this occasion, Kavita Dwivedi explained that Odissi is the classical dance form of Odisha, which came into prominence in the 11th century. Devadasis used to perform Odissi dance to please Lord Jagannath and seek his blessings. Through their dance, they expressed deep devotion.
She was accompanied by Prashant Mangaraj on the mardal, Prashant Behra on vocals, and Nikhil Kumar on the flute. S**C MACAY co-ordinator Sh. Pankaj Malhotra informed that World Dance Day is being celebrated in India by honouring classical heritage.
