Nalanda Library, IIT Ropar successfully hosted an informative session on "Writing Technical Papers for IEEE and New Features in IEEE Xplore", on 17 August 2026, by Dhanukumar Pattanashetti, Ph.D., IEEE Client Services.
The session provided valuable insights into preparing high-quality technical manuscripts for IEEE publications and introduced participants to the latest features and tools available in IEEE Xplore for research discovery and scholarly communication.

We extend our sincere thanks to the speaker for sharing his expertise and to all participants for their enthusiastic involvement.
Congratulations to all the winners of the quiz conducted during the session. The active participation and performance of students and research scholars made the event even more engaging and rewarding.

As part of the Freshers' Orientation Programme 2026 of Indian Institute of Technology Ropar, Nalanda Library welcomed the incoming students with an engaging session introducing the library's resources, facilities, and services. The presentation highlighted the library's rich print and electronic collections, 24×7 access, RFID-enabled services, a Koha-based library management system, an institutional repository, digital resources, study spaces, research support services, and Library etiquette — empowering students to explore, learn, innovate, and connect throughout their academic journey.

In addition to oral presentation, a vibrant display of informative posters offered students a glimpse into the many dimensions of Nalanda Library. Showcasing a wide range of services, specialized resources, digital platforms, research support, and outreach initiatives, the posters highlighted how the library extends far beyond books-serving as a dynamic hub for learning, discovery, collaboration, and academic excellence.

Greetings from Nalanda Library!

We are delighted to invite your child to participate in the Bookmark Design Competition – Creative Bookmark Artwork, being organized for children aged 8–15 years. This exciting activity aims to encourage creativity, imagination, and artistic expression while fostering a love for reading and books.

The competition provides a wonderful platform for young participants to showcase their talents by designing innovative, visually appealing bookmarks. Children are invited to create original artwork based on themes such as:
• Books and libraries
• Reading habits
• Learning and education
• Inspirational ideas and messages

Through colours, drawings, and unique designs, children can creatively express their thoughts and contribute to promoting a culture of reading in a fun and imaginative way. The activity will help enhance artistic skills, build confidence, nurture creativity, and develop an appreciation for literature and learning.

Nalanda Library, is pleased to share the published article, “Developing a Subject/Research Guide for Academic Libraries: A Case of IIT Ropar Library,” featured in Library Hi Tech News by Emerald Publishing. The paper is grounded in the practical implementation of the Subject Guide developed at Nalanda Library, Indian Institute of Technology Ropar.

This case study presents how the IIT Ropar Library successfully implemented the SubjectPlus platform to develop subject and research guides that enhance the discovery and use of library resources. The guides provide users with organised access to subject-specific print collections, e-resources, databases, and research support tools through user-friendly A–Z and discipline-wise navigation.

The initiative has significantly improved access for students, faculty, and researchers by enabling seamless on-campus and off-campus use of curated academic resources. The paper also offers practical insights for academic libraries planning similar digital knowledge support services.
