I congratulate Mr Abdulrazak Gurnah Ji on this marvellous achievement and deeply appreciate his contribution to the literature of justice that was grounded on the philosophy of raising voice for the helpless.

Abdulrazak Gurnah left Zanzibar in 1968 during political unrest that threatened people of Arab heritage. At just 18, he sought asylum in the UK, where he would build a life as a writer and academic.
His novels give voice to refugees and migrants whose stories are often unheard—exploring the pain of displacement, the complexity of identity, and the long shadows cast by colonialism.
Gurnah was awarded the 2021 Nobel Prize in Literature “for his uncompromising and compassionate pe*******on of the effects of colonialism and the fate of the refugee in the gulf between cultures and continents.”
