A step towards a healthier and addiction-free future!

NIT Rourkela organised a Morning Rally under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) 2026, bringing together students, faculty and staff to spread awareness about the harmful effects of substance use and promote healthy, responsible lifestyle choices.

Jointly organised by the NMBA Committee and Institute Counselling Services (ICS), NIT Rourkela, in collaboration with People’s Forum and Brahmakumaris, the rally marked the beginning of a wider awareness campaign across the Halls of Residence.

Together, let us say NO to substance abuse and work towards building a drug-free, healthy and responsible society.

A Celebration of India’s Cultural Heritage 🇮🇳✨

On the occasion of the Foundation Day of NIT Rourkela, the S**C MACAY NITR Chapter hosted a vibrant cultural evening celebrating the richness and diversity of India’s cultural heritage.

The programme was led by Prof. Rachna Sherawat, PIC, S**C MACAY, along with the enthusiastic student team. The occasion was graced by Prof. K. Umamaheshwar Rao, Director, NIT Rourkela; Smt. P. Neeraja, Principal, KV NIT Rourkela; Prof. Rohan Dhiman, Registrar; Prof. Rajeev Kumar Panda, Dean (Student Welfare); and Prof. Dilip Kumar Pradhan, President, SAC.

The highlight of the evening was a mesmerizing Gotipua dance performance by Nilakantheshwar Gurukul Academy, presented under the guidance of Guru Shri Goutam Kumar Mahapatra, leaving the audience captivated by the beauty of Odisha’s vibrant cultural tradition.

GST 2.0 Reforms: Vision for Viksit Bharat @ 2047

The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, NIT Rourkela, in collaboration with the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), is organising a Two-Day National Conference on “GST 2.0 Reforms: Vision for Viksit Bharat @ 2047” on 20–21 August 2026.

The conference will bring together eminent policymakers, academicians, researchers and experts to deliberate on the evolving GST framework, its economic implications, and the role of taxation reforms in shaping a stronger and more developed India.

The programme will feature distinguished speakers and panellists, including Prof. Kavita Rao, Prof. K. J. Joseph, Shri V. Pandiraja, Prof. Prasanta Kumar Panda, Prof. Pratap Ranjan Jena and Prof. Pulak Mishra, among other experts.

The conference reflects NIT Rourkela’s commitment to fostering meaningful academic dialogue on contemporary economic and public policy issues contributing to the vision of Viksit Bharat @ 2047.

The Halls of Residence, NIT Rourkela came alive with the spirit of patriotism, unity and national pride as our students enthusiastically celebrated India’s 80th Independence Day.

From the hoisting of the Tricolour to vibrant student participation, the celebrations reflected the values of freedom, responsibility and togetherness that define our nation.

The celebrations were successfully coordinated across the Halls of Residence by the HMC team — Chief Warden, Coordinating Wardens, Wardens and Assistant Wardens.
