Nanotechnology; a field which is still a mystery to many, Green chemistry; the solution to curb the rapid rate at which the climate is changing, Catalysis; the topic which a 9th grader will connect with his chemistry school textbook. Are quantum computers all about bits and bytes or is there something else, apart from the countless line of codes and machinery? Has quantum chemistry got anything to do with quantum computers? A research student can only survive as long as there are questions left to answer. AZEOTROPE NITR presents ‘Klash of Kemigeeks.’ A quest to unravel the Chemistry beyond the four walls.

You can’t be a scientist without curiosity. The conventional methodology of idolizing the ‘BTech’ tag has had a sn*******ng effect over the decade and this has somewhat, led to pure science losing its charm. The first time we saw magnesium burn like white ribbon, in the Chemistry lab at school, the subject has been no less than magic. Do you realize the plethora of opportunities Chemistry brings with, whether it’s industry or academia or patent law or something as exciting as fieldwork as a chemist, want to know about cutting-edge research, build connections and actively contribute to the society? "You and I can be an Azeotrope.”

“Azeotrope” is the official chemical science club of NIT Rourkela. Literally, Azeotrope is a mixture of two or more liquids which attains stability after a certain boiling point. It deviates from ideal Raoult’s law. Similarly in this club, all the chemical enthusiasts of NITR irrespective of their study of interests gather together and form a stable inter-personal bond with time. Being from varied backgrounds, the members of this club have great opportunities to learn from each other and from the programmes that are initiated by the club.
The main motive or mission behind such club is to promote the discipline of chemical sciences among the students of NITR. It is supposed to act as a bridge between the students, professors and eminent scientists/researchers. This helps in generating a particular kind of scientific thought process among the students. This thought process will help the students to be a strong weapon and strive towards eradicating all the problems faced by the human society.
The members of this club will get special benefits of attending all kinds of seminars and webinars by professors and scientists from varied sub-fields of chemistry. They will get a huge chance of visiting places where chemistry related work is done. They will get to know about present and future prospects of different sub-fields of chemistry and accordingly choose their career in one of these. Interactions with other members of the club carrying similar ideology not only will help them in gaining knowledge in chemical sciences but also in personal terms. Being in NITR, with all the fests, fun and friends it is easy to become myopic and stop thinking about the future.
We as a club, will make sure that the students of chemistry and anyone who is interested in chemistry gets to know the full potential of this beautiful branch.
