Cognizance is recognized as one of the top-notch technical fests in the mainland. The Department of Electronics and Communication is a pioneer in the domain of research and development. It has have touched the lives of almost all of us and hence are one of the fastest expanding disciples today. The departmental events have been broadly classified into three cells- Ideaz, Spotlight, Prototype. Ideaz: India’s biggest Paper Presentation contest, where students from all over the country come together to present their original research work. The best papers are published in the Cognizance Journal which is sent to about 1000 prominent libraries across the country. Spotlight: A highly practical event that provides the highest platform for students to showcase practical and reliable solutions to long-term industry related problems. Specifically designed to add value to the interests of the sponsor, the solutions can remain as a property of the Sponsor or the Institute. Prototype: To keep pace with the changing needs of the modern world, Prototype invites young minds of the country to use their scientific sense towards creating relevant models which may have a significant impact in the futureParticipation in any ECE departmental event will enable the students to explore their knowledge in ECE in an entirely different way. Wireless charging with inductive coupling uses an electromagnetic field that transfers energy from the transmitter to the receiver. Consumers are wild about the convenience of simply placing a portable device on a charging mat. Wireless charging works well with mobile phones, digital cameras, media players, gaming controllers and Bluetooth headsets.
You need to design a wireless charger system to charge the mobile battery. The objective of the wireless charging is just to be able to plop your phone on a shelf after work and have it fully charged when you pick it up again on your way out.

SPOTLIGHT - LONG TERM PROBLEM SOLVING
TRAFFIC SIGNALLING
To prevent jams and accidents at the toll plaza on a highway, design a digital signal for proper management of traffic to different service counters-
* There are 3 lanes (one way) and each lane diverts into 2 service counters. So, there are a total of 6 service counters.
*100 meters before the diversion, there is a signal system which guides the incoming traffic to appropriate lane numbers.
*The system should keep track of the number of vehicles entering and leaving each counter and number of vehicles waiting at each counter.
There are 2 categories of vehicles- Light weight and Heavy weight.
FOR LIGHT WEIGHT VEHICLES
* The first priority of the system is to direct each vehicle to that counter where waiting period (calculated in terms of vehicles already waiting at the counter) is minimum.
* The second priority of the system should be that each vehicle should have to cover minimum lateral distance (distance across the lanes).
FOR HEAVY WEIGHT VEHICLES
* Heavy weight vehicles in a lane can only go to any of the 2 service counters to which their lane diverts.
* However, out of the 2 options, the one with less waiting time should be chosen.
