With the overwhelming response over at First Shots Fired, here are the top speakers from all the debates. These speakers will be contacted individually and get a direct pass to the recruitment interviews.
We thank everyone for coming to the debate. While we are forced to release a narrow list of winners, we thoroughly enjoyed watching all of you debate and hope to see you imbibe our love for debating. We hope everyone had fun and turns up at our other events throughout the year!
Clarification: First Shots Fired was not recruitment to the DebSoc. Volunteer recruitment will be held at a later date and will be open to all.

The Debating Society IITR presents to you it's first online event for the year, 'First Shots Fired', the fresher's debate. Your first chance to bring forth the words that drown in the sea of discussions, at the only place where everyone shuts up, listens and takes notes.
The debate will be held in teams of two. You can register as a team of two, or as individuals, in which case we'll team you up. The rules of the debate will be explained on the day itself.
While this is in no way the volunteer recruitment to the group, those who perform well in the debate will get an edge in those to anyone who performs well.
PS: The debate is open to all freshers. No prior experience is required.

The Debating Society participated in the Worlds University Debating Championship for the first time in the recently concluded WUDC 2021. While this in itself is a big achievement for us, the team of Deep Behal and Aditya Ramkumar weren't just going for the sake of participation, and in the process of honing their skills for the tournament, have had amazing performances at other tournaments as well.
- ESL Finals, Acropolis Open'21
- ESL Finals, Imperial IV'21
- ESL Semifinals Doxbridge 4
- Open Pre-Quarterfinals, Trinity Open'21
Apart from these, Deep broke as a Judge at the Australian BP Championship (Sydney Mini) & judged Semifinals
At WUDC 2021, seeing a participation of ~400 teams globally, they ended up as a reserve breaking team in the ESL category and missed the Open break on a 2-1 split in the 9th in-round (where they were pulled up) with the dissenting judge giving them the 1st.
Their efforts and exploits in recent tournaments have been nothing short of special. They've exceeded all our expectations and set the bar high. We intend to use their performance as inspiration for our future debating endeavors.
