Hey guys!
In continuation of our series “This day, That year”, today we will talk about the patent for a thermal cracking process for extracting gasoline.
On January 7, 1913, William Burton was granted a patent for thermal cracking process for extracting gasoline. This patented technology doubled the yield of gasoline that can be extracted from crude oil. The Burton process is still widely used in petroleum refining.

On December 26,1993, Edwin Armstrong was granted a patent for a two-path FM radio. Armstrong’s developments answered the long-unsolved problem of eliminating static from radio, though FM broadcasting was not widely adopted for some time.

Hey guys!
In continuation of our series “This day, That year”, today we will talk about the establishment of the first commercial atomic energy reactor.
On 10 November ,1960, the first commercial atomic energy reactor, and the third in the U.S., produced power for distribution. This was the $57 million Yankee Atomic Electric Company's plant at Rowe, Mass., on the Deerfield River. The pressurized light-water reactor produced 125,000 kilowatts of electricity.

Hi everyone!
AIChE, in collaboration with ChESS, is conducting a two-day placement talk. Students from all branches are invited to attend this interactive session.
The second day of the talk is on 7th April, 2022 and will have speakers from various non-core fields.
It is a great opportunity for sophomores and pre-final year students to clear their doubts related to placements and for first yearites who want to explore various non-core fields.
