WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY 2026
Today,5th June 2026 on the occasion of World Environment Day, with theme: “Climate Action” aligned with Mission LiFE actions ‘Save Water’ and ‘Save Energy ‘.We under the Eco Club of CM SHRI Govt. Sec.School,Ralong Rangcham conducted the following activities
❖ Awareness Rally
Students and teachers participated in an awareness rally with powerful slogans on Save Water and Energy conservation.
❖ Cleanliness Drive:Cleanliness drive around the school surroundings conveying the message of cleaner and greener environment.

MENTAL HEALTH & CANCER AWARENESS PROGRAMME
CM SHRI GOVT. SEC. SCHOOL, RALONG

1. Introduction
On the occasion of World No To***co Day, a Mental Health & Cancer Awareness Programme was organised by Ralong Borong ZTC at CM Shri Govt. Sec. School, Ralong on 29 May 2026. The programme was hosted by Shri Karma Tenzing Bhutia, Panchayat, Mangar Dalam. The School Prahari Club also conducted the Inter-House Debate Competition Final on the topic "Social media is the main reason for stress in teenagers" during the programme. The objective was to create awareness on mental well-being, cancer prevention, ill effects of to***co, mindfulness, and to encourage healthy dialogue among students.

2. Programme Proceedings
The programme commenced at 10:00 AM as per the Order of Programme.

1. Welcome Address was delivered by Smt. Sankey Doma Bhutia, School In-charge.
2. Speech was delivered by Shri Dak Man Rai, Panchayat, Lungsing, Vice President.
3. Session 1 on Cancer & Ill Effects of To***co was conducted by Miss Chewang Bhutia, Staff Nurse, Ralong HWC. This was followed by a Say No to To***co Pledge.
4. Inter-House Debate Competition Final was conducted by the School Prahari Club. Moderator was Shri Nabin Chettri, Ralong SS. The topic was "Social media is the main reason for stress in teenagers". Students participated actively and shared strong arguments for and against the motion.
5. Session 2 on Mental Health Awareness was taken by Smt. Binita Sharma, Health Counsellor, Ravangla PHSC. She addressed the meaning and importance of mental health in the life of students, parents, and teachers. She discussed common symptoms of mental distress such as continuous low mood, sudden anger, changes in sleep or appetite, loss of interest in regular activities, and poor concentration. Presenting recent data on teenage mental health, she highlighted the increasing cases of stress and anxiety among school children and the need for early recognition and support. The session aimed at creating awareness and breaking myths related to mental illness. She also shared the government helpline Tele MANAS 14416 for professional help.
6. Session 3 on Mindfulness for Mental Wellbeing was conducted by Miss Anjal Rai, Master Trainer Heartfulness, Health & Wellness Ambassador, Ralong SS. She demonstrated five practical daily tools: 3 Breath Brake, Name It To Tame It, 5-4-3-2-1 Grounding Technique, Shake The Stress Out, and 3 Good Things followed by heartfulness Relaxation.
7. Address by Chairperson of the day was delivered by Miss Anjana Sharma, Zilla Panchayat Member, Ralong-Borong Territory.
8. Vote of Thanks was proposed by Miss Jasu Maya S***a, Panchayat, Lower Namlung.

The programme concluded with Tithi bhoj.

3. Dignitaries and Participants
The programme was chaired by Ms. Anjana Sharma, Zilla Panchayat, Ralong -Borong Territory. Panchayat President, Panchayat Vice President, Panchyat members from Ralong Namlung GPU, Shri Yungsung Bhutia, A.D, Ralong Namlung GPK were also present. Health workers from Health and Wellness Centre Ralong and all students of CM Shri Govt. Sec. School, Ralong, students from Namlung JHS from class 6 to 8 with their teachers and all faculties of CM Shri Govt. Sec. School, Ralong participated actively and enthusiastically.

4. Key Highlights
1. Three focused health sessions on Cancer, Mental Health, and Mindfulness were conducted by experts from Health Department and School.
2. The debate final by Prahari Club encouraged critical thinking among students on social media and stress.
3. Students were taught that anxiety lives in future, regret lives in past, and peace lives in now.
4. All participants took the Say No to To***co Pledge and the Mindfulness Pledge.
5. The Tele MANAS helpline 14416 was shared with all for free mental health support.
6. The programme successfully linked World No To***co Day with mental health, showing how a calm mind helps make healthier life choices.

5. Outcome
The programme was very successful. Students learned practical 1 to 2 minute tools for daily stress management. The debate helped students express views on social media and mental stress. Parents and teachers became aware of early signs of mental health issues and importance of emotional support. The event strengthened the link between school, health department, and Panchayat for student well-being. Participants requested more such awareness programmes in future.

6. Conclusion
The Mental Health & Cancer Awareness Programme organised by Ralong Borong ZTC with support of CM Shri Govt. Sec. School, Ralong achieved its objectives. The school expresses gratitude to Ralong Borong ZTC, all Resource Persons, dignitaries, Panchayat members, and Prahari Club for making the programme meaningful.

Under the initiative of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat (EBSB), activities were conducted for students from Primary to Upper Primary classes as part of the May 2026 action plan.

The programme began with a short speech during the morning assembly highlighting the importance of national unity, cultural understanding, and social responsibility. A Swachhata Pledge was also conducted in both Nepali and English languages focusing on cleanliness, water conservation and avoiding single-use plastic.

Further, a cleanliness drive was organized in and around the school campus where students actively participated in maintaining hygiene and spreading awareness about environmental cleanliness.

The activities helped students learn the values of cleanliness, discipline, cooperation, and national integration. The programme was successfully conducted with the support of teachers and enthusiastic participation of students.

15:05:2026: The poster competition was held on the last Friday at the Auditorium, inviting 4 participants each from four houses in the senior and junior categories. The event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of choosing a healthy lifestyle over addiction.

Junior Category (Classes 4-7)

- 1st Prize: Neha Limboo, Iris House (15 points)
- 2nd Prize: Anjeela Gurung (Dianthus) & Tashi Lhaden Bhutia (Daffodil) (12 points)

Today, the tourism students of Classes 9 and 10 organised an interesting and creative salad presentation under the guidance of Tourism Teacher Ms. Rachana Sharma. Inter-house Nukkad Natak Competition Organised by Prahari Club

All four houses participated actively showcasing their acting skills and teamwork. The judging criteria included theme and message clarity, script and dialogues, acting and expression, team coordination and timing, stage presence and energy, creativity and props/costumes, Audience impact and discipline.

The program left a positive impact on everyone present. All participants were active and gave their best. Looking forward to more such events.
