The Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) and Research & Development Cell of Finolex Academy of Management and Technology (FAMT) organized a Faculty & Student R&D Orientation Program on 18th February 2026 to strengthen the institutional research and innovation ecosystem. The session was conducted by Dr. Sandeep Chavada, Dean (R&D), focusing on research planning, innovation practices, funding opportunities, intellectual property awareness, and industry collaboration. Nearly 50 participants, including faculty and students, actively engaged in discussions aimed at promoting a strong research culture and innovation-driven growth. The activity reflects FAMT’s commitment to fostering R&D excellence in alignment with the objectives of IIC under the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell (MIC).

🔔 Activity Update | FAMT IIC
The Department of CSE (AI & ML), in collaboration with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) and IEDC at Finolex Academy of Management and Technology (FAMT), organized an engaging session titled “AI & Innovation Sprints: Rapid Prototyping for Digital Transformation” on 6th February 2026 for students across all departments, with 67 students actively participating. The session aimed to introduce modern innovation practices using Artificial Intelligence, rapid prototyping, and digital transformation strategies applied in real-world industries. The resource person, Omkar Bhatkar, YouTuber and Founder of Kokan Vastu, shared his professional journey and demonstrated how AI tools and technology can be leveraged to build practical, impactful digital solutions. He emphasized experimentation, iterative development, and continuous learning, while guiding students on converting ideas into projects, portfolios, startups, and career opportunities. The session, coordinated by Prof. S. S. Athalye and Prof. S. R. Teli, concluded with an interactive discussion and vote of thanks.

🔔 Activity Update | FAMT IIC
The Institution’s Innovation Council (FAMT IIC), in association with IEDC and the Department of CSE (AI & ML), Finolex Academy of Management and Technology (FAMT), organized a session on “Basics of Intellectual Property Rights and Its Importance for Innovators and Entrepreneurs” on 6th October 2025 to create awareness about protecting innovative ideas and promoting entrepreneurship. A total of 42 students actively participated in the session, where Prof. Swapnali Teli, Innovation Ambassador and FAMT IIC Member, explained the fundamentals of patents, copyrights, and trademarks, emphasizing the importance of early-stage IP protection for strengthening startup and commercialization potential. The program was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Yogesh Gajmal (HoD, CSE AI & ML) and Dr. Sandeep Chavada (Dean R&D & FAMT IIC President), followed by an engaging interactive discussion.

nnovation Idea Presentation & Screening Round
DIPEX 2026 – Konkan Region
The Konkan Region DIPEX 2026 – Idea Presentation Round was successfully organized at Finolex Academy of Management and Technology (FAMT) on 11th February 2026. The event was conducted by Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and Srujan Trust, in association with Konkan Vidyarthi Nidhi Trust, under the aegis of the Institution’s Innovation Council (FAMT IIC).
Aligned with the theme “Social Innovation for Rural Development and Viksh*t Bharat 2047,” the event provided a platform for students to present innovative and socially impactful project ideas. A total of 72 students showcased 25 multidisciplinary projects before an expert panel and received valuable feedback for further refinement.
The program was graced by Shri Rambabu Sanka, Director – Technical, Finolex Industries Ltd., and Dr. Kaushal Prasad, Principal, FAMT.
The event strengthened FAMT’s innovation ecosystem by promoting research aptitude, interdisciplinary thinking, and idea validation.

Innovation creates value when it is protected.
FAMT successfully organized an IP Awareness & Patent Filing Workshop to promote Intellectual Property awareness and encourage patent-driven research among faculty and students. The program was conducted under the aegis of Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell (MIC) and Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC).
We were privileged to have Ashutosh Prachand, Registered Indian Patent Agent and Director, Knotty IP, who provided practical insights on patent drafting and filing procedures, along with Adv. Suchitra Jadhar, IP Associate, AIC Pinnacle Entrepreneurship Forum, Pune, who guided participants on IPR schemes and support mechanisms. Their expert guidance added significant value to the session.
The enthusiastic participation reflects FAMT’s strong commitment toward innovation, research excellence, and intellectual asset creation.

🚀 Exploring the Future of Quantum Technologies! 🚀
The Department of CSE (AI & ML), in association with FAMT Institution’s Innovation Council (FAMT IIC), successfully organized an online expert session on “Demystifying the Concept of Quantum AI and Quantum Cryptography” on 31st January 2026.
The session, delivered by Dr. Anwar Basha H, provided valuable insights into emerging quantum technologies, research trends, and career opportunities. 47 students actively participated and gained exposure to this cutting-edge domain.

✨ AI Awareness Session at FAMT ✨
The Department of Information Technology, in association with FAMT Institution’s Innovation Council (FAMT IIC), successfully organized an MIC-driven activity titled “Understanding Artificial Intelligence and Data Science” on 2nd February 2026.
The session delivered by Prof. Santosh V. Jadhav, aimed at creating awareness and building foundational understanding of AI and Data Science among students. A total of 81 students actively participated in this engaging and informative session.
The activity aligns with NEP 2020, IndiaAI Mission 2024, and AICTE’s Year of AI (2026), contributing to the development of AI-ready human capital for a self-reliant India.

This competition aims to showcase student innovation, faculty expertise, AI applications in campus life, and emerging AI career pathways. The shortlisted videos from the institute-level competition will be officially submitted to the MIC–AICTE Campus AI Short Video Competition.
