INSGLiTZ (INSTRUMENTATION)

INSGLiTZ (INSTRUMENTATION) Instrumentation is defined as the art and science of measurement and control of process variables within a production or manufacturing area.

1)Instrumentation is a branch of Engineering which deals with the operation, quality, properties and maintenance of instruments which are used in various production industries. There are two branches regarding instrumentation in engineering.They are,

1.Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering
2.Instrumentation and Control Engineering

Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering deals with the

operation of Electronic components and their maintenance. It mainly deals with the Electronics. Instrumentation and Control Engineering deals with the control of the instruments which are used in various production industries. This branch will be very interesting. Both the above mentioned courses of instrumentation have a bright scope in the future since Instrumentation Engineers are in great demand.

2)Instrumentation is a field of engineering which encompasses automation and process control.It also involves use of transducers and sensors. The major variables controlled are temperature, pressure, volume etc. For example, if a plant is having boiler operations, the automated mechanisms are put in place using valves and transducers which contionuously keep monitoring the boiler temperature, pressure and volume of the content in the boiler. If these variables go beyond or below the desired value of variables, the valves come into action and regulate these variables.All this done with various process loop mechanisms. Plant Automation with the use of SCADA and PLC allows the operators to have the entire view of the plants on the computer screen on a real time basis. Not only operations can be seen, the valves and other devices can be controlled with simple clicks on the computer screen. This use of automation makes process control very easy.

3)Instrumentation and Control Engineer has to define the some of the activities as below
Design Automation and Control System for Process Control which includes Field Instrumentation selection(Valves,Pumps etc) Field Wiring and Logic Configuration to define control strategy as per Application requirement in PLC/DCS it is Very Vast field it is spread in all dimension in all industry such as manufacturing/Continuous Process/Batch Process/Automobile Aviation etc .
