Can you correctly interpret this partograph cervical dilatation curve? 👀
The graph shows cervical dilatation progressing from 4 cm to 10 cm over 6 hours.
🔍 Question: What does the cervical dilatation curve indicate?
A. Normal progress of labour
B. Cervical dilatation has crossed the action line
C. Arrest of descent
D. Fetal distress
✅ ANSWER: A. Normal progress of labour
Why?
The cervical dilatation progresses at approximately 1 cm/hour, which follows the traditional WHO partograph's alert-line benchmark. The action line is positioned 4 hours to the right of the alert line in the traditional WHO partograph.

⚠️ Exam Note: This interpretation applies to the traditional WHO partograph used in many nursing/medical exam questions. Current WHO guidance has moved away from using the 1-cm/hour rule alone as a trigger for intervention because normal labour progression varies considerably between women.

🩺 ECTOPIC PREGNANCY — IMAGE-BASED OBG QUIZ

🔎 Can you identify the diagnosis from the ultrasound?

A woman with 7 weeks of amenorrhea presents with unilateral lower abdominal pain and vaginal bleeding.

TVS shows an empty uterine cavity with a gestational sac in the left adnexal/fallopian-tube region, containing a yolk sac ± fetal pole.

✅ ANSWER: B. Tubal Ectopic Pregnancy

🧠 Why?
The key diagnostic clue is the combination of:

• No definite intrauterine gestational sac
• Extrauterine/adnexal gestational sac
• Yolk sac within the adnexal sac
• Clinical symptoms of pain + vaginal bleeding

A definite extrauterine gestational sac containing a yolk sac or embryo is highly diagnostic of an ectopic pregnancy.

📌 Exam Pearl:
Empty uterus + adnexal gestational sac with yolk sac/embryo = Ectopic pregnancy until proven otherwise.

⚠️ In a real clinical setting, suspected ectopic pregnancy requires urgent gynecologic assessment, especially if there is severe pain, hemodynamic instability, or suspected rupture.

🚨 HYPOVOLEMIC SHOCK: PATHOPHYSIOLOGY + CLINICAL FEATURES

What happens inside the body when there is a major loss of blood or body fluid? 🩸⬇️

Understanding the pathophysiology of hypovolemic shock makes it much easier to recognize the clinical signs and understand why the patient's condition can deteriorate rapidly.

Can you identify the diagnosis from this ultrasound? 👀
What is the most likely diagnosis?
A️⃣ Complete Hydatidiform Mole
B️⃣ Ectopic Pregnancy
C️⃣ Placenta Previa
D️⃣ Missed Abortion
⏳ Think before checking the answer!
✅ ANSWER: A. Complete Hydatidiform Mole
🔍 Why?
The ultrasound shows a diffuse heterogeneous echogenic intrauterine mass with numerous small cystic/anechoic spaces, creating the classic “snowstorm” or “cluster of grapes” appearance. The absence of a recognizable fetus and normal gestational sac is an important clue for complete hydatidiform mole.
🧠 Quick Exam Recall:
Complete Mole → Snowstorm appearance → Multiple cystic spaces → No fetus

Look at the image carefully and identify the most likely diagnosis 👀
Question: What is the most likely diagnosis?
A. Placenta Previa
B. Abruptio Placentae
C. Vasa Previa
D. Placenta Accreta
💡 Clinical clue: Think about premature placental separation and the presence of a retroplacental hematoma.
👇 Comment your answer before checking the explanation!
✅ Correct Answer: B. Abruptio Placentae
Rationale: Abruptio placentae is the premature separation of a normally implanted placenta from the uterine wall. A retroplacental hematoma is a classic imaging finding.
📌 Exam Pearl:
Painful vaginal bleeding + tender/tense uterus + fetal distress → think Abruptio Placentae.
