Nobody tells first-generation college students this — and it costs them their first year.

If you're the first in your family to go to college, here are things you'll face that no one prepares you for:

🔵 Fee payment portals often crash on the last day — always pay 2 days before the deadline.

🔵 "Provisional admission" is not final admission. You still need to complete document verification in person. Missing this step cancels your seat — even if you paid fees.

🔵 Most colleges have a ragging/anti-discrimination cell. If anything feels wrong in your first week, you have the right to report it.

🔵 Your college ID and bonafide certificate are important documents. Get them issued in the first 2 weeks itself.

🔵 If your category (OBC/SC/ST) was not applied at admission, you can request correction within the first 30 days at most colleges.
