After continuously discussing this for 6+ years through videos, LinkedIn posts, RTIs, mails to authorities, and student discussions, it finally feels like something meaningful is entering the conversation.

As per recent reports, the Ministry of Education has advised IIMs to:

• Unify admission processes
• Reduce multiple WAT GD PI Process
• Explore IIT-style centralized counselling
• Create a smoother and more transparent admission/refund system for students

Honestly, this has been a long-pending discussion.

Every year, students face:

1. Multiple forms for different IIMs during stage II
2. Different shortlisting systems
3. Different interview processes
4. Different payment deadlines

Huge confusion during overlapping converts and waitlists

A more coordinated ecosystem can reduce stress, improve transparency, and help students make better decisions.

But at the same time, this is still only a proposal.

And the road ahead will not be easy.

1. Every IIM has its own:
2. Admission philosophy
3. Diversity criteria
4. Evaluation pattern
5. Interview structure
6. Program identity

So expecting complete unification overnight may not be practical.

Still, the positive sign is this:

𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝘁 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴.

And that matters.

Sometimes change begins not with implementation…
but with acceptance that the problem actually exists.
