Want to be the next DC admin?
Come participate in DevHack 0.1, the developer hackathon event of Bitotsav. First round is online (you can give the hackathon from home). DC admins would be chosen after an interview of the best entries in the hackathon. And, there are cash prizes worth Rs 30,000 too!
Why would you want to be a DC admin?
- You'll get two servers that serve as your playground for testing out your ideas on the college population. You could get a startup's website made available to college people, get local repositories made or launch a social network for BIT! Sky is the limit when you have the resources.
- Net, obviously. Share mode unlimited!
- Manage already existing websites? DC, Gitlab, IdeaPool ...

The preliminary round will be 24 hours long.Each team will choose a theme and create an application (desktop, web, android) related to the theme in the stipulated time.

We are introducing BIT Mesra's own git server (like Github), powered by Gitlab CE. Gitlab is a community edition software, which we plan to use as a counterpart to projects on ideapool.
For anyone in BIT Mesra, this means you have storage on our server, on which you can store your projects, collaborate using git, and share your work with everyone.

Feel free to ask for more limits if your project needs it. Gitlab doesn't need internet.

Project mentorship program is back! It is open to all branches, programs , and to students in any year.
For the same purpose, we've created a basic website in Rails. This time, we're changing how mentorship works, and to make this interesting, the new workflow is like this -
(1) anyone can propose a project
(2) admins approve projects that are interesting and doable
(3) once approved, people can volunteer
(4) either admins or project owner can approve volunteers to be members
(5) we provide templates, guidance
(6) ...
The website is live (HTTPS, so ignore the security certificate warning just like for cyberoam). Features -
(1) anyone can propose / like / volunteer / comment on an idea
(2) if you want the development to be open source, we're also willing to host your projects at github.com/BITMesraDevelopers
(3) you can watch the project source without opening GitHub
Since the website is in preliminary stages, please ping me if you find any bugs. Also, the admins for now are all the DC admins(Ashish, Nikhil, Subham , Chinmoy , Pankaj) and Manoj.
Note: You might need an internet connection. Making requests offline (LAN only) is an ongoing issue. You can use your DC website credentials to log in.
