Address by CVO, CIL at IICM

The Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) of Coal India Limited addressed the Management Trainees during their ongoing Induction Programme at the Indian Institute of Coal Management (IICM).

During the session, the CVO elaborated on the key aspects of Mission CIL 2026 – Reform, Transform, Perform, and Inform, emphasizing the critical role of integrity, transparency, and accountability in strengthening organizational systems. He underscored the importance of adhering to established rules and manuals for the effective discharge of assigned responsibilities.

Citing relevant examples from history, he encouraged the young officers to appreciate the significance of vigilance functions in their professional journey and to uphold ethical standards in all aspects of their work.

The CVO also highlighted the collective responsibility of every individual in achieving organizational goals through transparency and good governance.

The programme was attended by Management Trainees participating in the Induction Training Programme, along with faculty members of IICM. The session concluded with the administration of the Integrity Pledge by the CVO

Marathon ERP Training Programme at IICM, Ranchi

The Indian Institute of Coal Management (IICM), Ranchi successfully conducted a 3-day Marathon Training Programme on ERP from 9–11 March 2026.

The programme featured expert sessions by professionals from Coal India Limited and its subsidiaries, covering key SAP modules and ERP business processes such as HCM, SD, FICO, MM, PM, PP, ABAP, SAP FIORI, and more.

The training provided valuable insights into digital transformation and ERP implementation in the coal industry, helping participants strengthen their knowledge of SAP-driven business processes.

*Inspiring Interaction with Future Leaders of Coal India*

The Chief Vigilance Officer of Coal India Limited addressed the newly joined Management Trainees during their ongoing Induction Programme at Indian Institute of Coal Management.

During the session, he highlighted the vision of *Mission CIL 2026 – Reform, Transform, Perform and Inform*, emphasizing the importance of integrity, transparency, and accountability in strengthening organizational systems. He encouraged the young officers to uphold the highest standards of ethics and vigilance in their professional journey.

The CVO also spoke about the growing role of *women in Coal India*, underlining the organization’s commitment towards *women empowerment and greater gender inclusivity* across its operations and leadership roles.

The interaction served as an inspiring platform for the Management Trainees to understand the significance of ethical leadership, transparency, and inclusivity in building a stronger and more progressive Coal India.

PRERNA (Preparing Retirees for Enriched Relationships & Nurturing Age-wellness) organized at IICM

The Program "PRERNA" got successfully concluded at IICM. The three day residential program was organized from February 26 to 28, 2026. This program has been designed especially for the executives of age above 58 years. The participants participated with spouse in the program. Sessions on Psychological aspects of retirement, Preparation for the retirement, Time Management, Post-Retirement Health Security - CPRMSE, Management of personal finance and Yoga practices were key topics covered in the program. The valedictroy address was given by Dr Kamakshi Raman, ED, IICM.
The program was coordinated by Sri Divyasanu Pandey, Manager (Civil).

We were privileged to host Shri Rituraj Misra, IRPS (2010 batch), currently serving as Private Secretary to Hon’ble Minister of State for Coal & Mines, Government of India, for an insightful session at the Indian Institute of Coal Management (IICM).

The session on "AI as a Strategic Partner" was attended by Management Trainees, participants of UDAAN, and Faculty members of IICM. Shri Misra elaborated on the core concept of Artificial Intelligence, emphasizing that AI is not a substitute for human intelligence but a powerful enabler that complements human judgment, experience, and domain expertise. He highlighted how the integration of AI with human insight can become a transformative combination in driving smarter decisions, operational excellence, enhanced safety, predictive maintenance, optimized logistics, and improved sustainability across the coal value chain.

His unique blend of technical expertise, policy exposure, and administrative experience enriched the discussion, making the session both strategic and practical. The interactive exchange that followed reflected the growing curiosity and readiness of young professionals to leverage AI as a force multiplier in the coal sector.

The deliberations were closely aligned with the broader vision of digital transformation and modernization within Coal India Limited.

A program was organised at IICM from 23rd February to 25th February on “Legal knowledge and statutory compliance” which was attended by 15 participants. The program had sessions on Handling legal disputes, RTI, CMPF, CMPS, Finance manuals and Disciplinary proceedings. The program was well received.

The Valediction Ceremony was conducted by Shree Ajay Kumar Sinha, Chief Manager (Mining), IICM, who appreciated the active participation and emphasized the importance of coordinated and collaborative efforts in achieving organizational excellence.

The sessions were highly interactive and practical, equipping participants with actionable strategies to build high-performing teams, strengthen cross-functional collaboration, and leverage networking for organizational success.

IICM organised a 3 day residential program on Data Management and Analytics where sessions were taken by faculty members from different subsidiaries of Coal India introducing the participants to the concept of Data management and how it is being used in Coal India to improve surveillance, decision making and improvement of operational efficiency

Learning, Exposure & Cultural Exchange

As part of the ongoing MEA–ITEC sponsored Training Programme at IICM, Ranchi, participants from the Republic of Liberia are gaining holistic exposure to India’s mining ecosystem and cultural heritage.

The programme included field and exposure visits to Churi Underground Mine and Birsa Opencast Mine of Central Coalfields Limited (CCL), where participants observed mining operations, safety practices, and best operational standards. The participants also visited the advanced Digital Labs of the Indian School of Mines (ISM), Dhanbad, gaining insights into the application of digital technologies in modern mining.

In addition, the participants visited Bodh Gaya, the land of enlightenment, experiencing India’s rich spiritual and cultural heritage and reflecting on the universal values of peace, compassion, and wisdom.

These visits have enriched the learning experience by seamlessly integrating professional exposure with cultural understanding, making the training programme truly global and experiential.

The Indian Institute of Coal Management (IICM), Ranchi successfully organized a two-day “Marathon Training Programme on MSME & MII” on 30th & 31st January 2026, aimed at strengthening understanding of public procurement policies and promoting the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.

The programme offered in-depth insights into key areas, including:
✅ TReDS and solutions for addressing delayed payments to MSMEs
✅ Public Procurement Policy for MSEs (Order, 2012)
✅ Make in India (MII) Order, 2017 and local content requirements
✅ Procurement from MSEs, Startups, and Local Suppliers
✅ Application of MSE & MII purchase preferences in tenders for goods and services

Eminent experts such as Shri Ram Krishna Sarkar (Senior Manager, m1xchange), Shri R. L. Bharadwaj (IRSS, Retd.), Shri P. D. Sharma (Advisor – M&C), and Dr. Mukul Sharma (Senior Manager, CIL HQ) shared their rich experience and practical perspectives, making the sessions highly interactive and insightful.

The programme concluded with a valedictory session addressed by Shri Sudhir Kumar, General Manager (IICM), reaffirming IICM’s commitment to capacity building and effective implementation of MSME-friendly procurement reforms.
