Fertiliser Subsidy: Keeping Inputs Affordable for Farmers 🌾
Fertiliser remains a critical input for Indian agriculture, and the Government continues to protect farmers from rising international fertiliser prices through substantial subsidies.
A 45-kg bag of urea is available to farmers at just ₹266, despite its market price being around ₹3,000 per bag. Similarly, a 50-kg bag of DAP costs farmers ₹1,350, against a market price of approximately ₹5,000 per bag.
During 2025, covering both Kharif and Rabi seasons, the Government bore a total subsidy of ₹2,17,174 crore on Urea, DAP, MoP, NPK and SSP, ensuring the availability of essential fertilisers at affordable prices.
This is the Government’s commitment to reducing farmers’ input burden, strengthening agricultural productivity and ensuring food security.
