Indian Institute of Information Technology Ranchi successfully organised “Quasar XAI Hackathon – An official Pre-Summit Event to AI Impact Summit 2026”, a 24-hour long Inter institutional hackathon, held on 30th & 31st January 2026.

This 24-hour, inter-institutional AI hackathon brought together bright minds from institutions including NIT Jamshedpur, IIIT Bhagalpur, NIAMT Ranchi, BIT Mesra, IIIT Ranchi, and JK Institute of Applied Physics & Technology, Allahabad, fostering innovation, collaboration, and problem-solving in AI.

Prof. Rajeev Srivastava, Director, IIIT Ranchi delivered an inspiring address centered on the theme of the AI Impact Summit 2026, “AI for Economic Growth and Social Good.” He highlighted the transformative potential of artificial intelligence in addressing societal challenges and contributing to sustainable economic development.

The event featured an insightful and highly motivational session by the resource person, Dr. Praveen Kumar, CEO, FIST–Technology Business Incubator (TBI), IIT Patna, who delivered an engaging talk on “Research, Innovation, and Startups in the Field of Artificial Intelligence.”

The 24-hour hackathon commenced with the activation of the timer. All the participants received enthusiastic appreciation from the esteemed panel members- Dr. Roshan Singh, Dr. Shashikant Sharma, Dr. Abhinav Kumar, Dr. Chandraprakash Singh, and Dr. Dhiran Kumar Mahto , and the winning teams were felicitated with cash prizes along with commemorative shields, in recognition of their outstanding performance and innovative contributions.

Indian Institute of Information Technology Ranchi celebrated the 77th Republic Day of India with great enthusiasm at its BSNL ARTTC Campus and the upcoming permanent campus at Kanke, Sanga.

The celebrations began with the unfurling of the National Flag by Prof. Rajeev Srivastava, Director, IIIT Ranchi, followed by the singing of the National Anthem in the presence of faculty, officers, staff, and students.

Addressing the gathering, the Director highlighted the vision of Viksit Bharat and emphasized the role of educational institutions and youth in nation-building, constitutional values, integrity, innovation, and inclusiveness.

The event was further enlivened by patriotic cultural performances by students, showcasing India’s unity, diversity, and rich cultural heritage.

The celebrations concluded with a renewed commitment by the IIIT Ranchi community towards nation-building, social responsibility, and the ideals of the Constitution of India.

Indian Institute of Information Technology Ranchi successfully organised its 3rd Convocation Ceremony on 29 December 2025 at the Auditorium, Jharkhand University of Technology, Ranchi. A total of 370 degrees were conferred upon UG, PG, and Ph.D. scholars, and meritorious students were honoured with Gold Medals, Silver Medals, Best Girl Student Medals, Institute Medals, and Best Student Shields, recognising outstanding academic achievements.

The academic procession was led by Lt Gen A.K. Bhatt (Retd.), Chairperson, Board of Governors, IIIT Ranchi, and Prof. Rajeev Srivastava, Director, IIIT Ranchi.

The Chief Guest, Shri Sanjay Seth, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Defence, Government of India, inspired graduates to pursue ethical, responsible innovation in service of the nation. Guests of Honour Prof. T.N. Singh, Director, IIT Patna, and Shri Ashok Bhagat, Padma Shri awardee, emphasised the role of education and technology in societal transformation.

The institute reaffirms its commitment to excellence in education, research, and innovation, nurturing responsible professionals and innovators dedicated to nation-building and the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047.

Indian Institute of Information Technology Ranchi successfully hosted the State Level Exhibition and Felicitation Ceremony of Design for Bharat – Youth Innovation Challenge 2026, an initiative of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, in association with the School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi.

The theme, “Duality - Dwividhta”, received 58 registrations, with 7 successful submissions and 6 shortlisting teams. Following detailed evaluation and presentations, three outstanding teams emerged as winners and were selected to represent Jharkhand at the National Level Exhibition.

Indian Institute of Information Technology Ranchi and the National Institute of Advanced Manufacturing Technology Ranchi have entered into a significant Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen collaboration in training, research, placements, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

Under this MoU, both institutes will jointly conduct workshops, training programs, student exchange, interdisciplinary projects, and research activities in emerging areas such as AI, robotics, advanced manufacturing, and data science. Indian Institute of Information Technology Ranchi has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Survey of India, the country's apex mapping and surveying organization under the Department of Science & Technology.

This strategic collaboration aims to advance cooperation in Geomatics, Geospatial Technology, research, training, and knowledge exchange. The partnership will enable joint research activities, specialized training programmes for Survey of India officers, opportunities for sponsored M.Tech and Ph.D. candidates, internship avenues for IIIT Ranchi students, expert-led sessions, academic events, and structured faculty–student exchange initiatives.
