Community Science Programme at Maharishi Vidya Mandir School
In collaboration with Earthwatch Institute India, Maharishi Vidya Mandir School is implementing a Community Science and Air Quality Project to increase scientific temper and science-based understanding of air quality and the environment.
The programme supports students and teachers using state-of-the-art digital technology tools and E-learning resources. At the beginning of the workshop, the School Principal, Mr. Pramod Kumar extended a warm welcome to the Earthwatch Institute India team and launched the Learning Modules, interactive Learning resources and animations and a Science-based educational programme on air quality for the students and teachers of the school.
In her welcome address, Principal Mr. Pramod shared the importance of understanding our environment and also to cater to it’s needs. He also spoke about the current dangers we face as a community and how we can take certain measures to safe-guard our heath. During the workshop, the Principal, Mr. Pramod was felicitated of principal for her keen interest in promoting community science to improve air quality, STEM and sustainable education programmes. Ms. Kirti, Mrs.Poonam. Mr. Ajay, Mr. Roshan, Mrs. Anjali, Mrs. Reenu, Mrs. Muskaan and Mr. Ghyanshaam for their efforts were felicitated for their efforts.
During the workshop, the enterprise team launched an interactive e-learning Resource on Air Quality comprising modules on the Atmosphere, Air Quality, Air Quality Sensors, Human Health, and what we can do to improve air quality. A new educational puppet programme promoting small positive steps to enhance the quality of air, a new science-based Comic Book, ‘Clean Air Begins with Me’ in Hindi and English. The workshop included launching digital tools such as an app, which helps map real-time air quality data and E Small Audio/Visuals on small positive steps to improve air quality.
The workshop included several inclusive and interesting activities. Students interacted with the resource persons and shared their views on the questions. Toward the end of the workshop, students reflected on the lessons and skills they learned and pledged to apply those learnings in their day-to-day lives. The workshop culminated by extending a Vote of Thanks to the resource persons by Mr. Pramod.
