Three-Day RCI CRE Programme Concludes at Speaking Hands Welfare Foundation
Experts Deliberate on Mental Health, Behaviour Management and Psychosocial Support for Children with Disabilities
Rajpura (Patiala): A three-day Continuing Rehabilitation Education (CRE) Programme organized by Speaking Hands Welfare Foundation, Rajpura, Patiala, Punjab (RCI Code: PB013) under the approval and guidance of the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI), Government of India, concluded successfully on Sunday. The programme was held from 25 to 27 September 2026 on the theme “Mental Health, Behaviour Management and Psychosocial Support for Children with Disabilities.”
The programme witnessed participation from various experts and professionals associated with the fields of rehabilitation and special education. A total of 50 participants attended the three-day programme. The sessions provided expert guidance and practical inputs on various aspects related to the mental health, behavioural challenges and psychosocial support needs of children with disabilities.
During the three-day training programme, expert sessions were conducted on understanding mental health in children with disabilities, common mental health challenges, emotional and social development, early identification of emotional and behavioural difficulties, and the role of parents and families. The programme also covered areas including behaviour management, positive behaviour support, stress and anxiety, social skills, communication difficulties and classroom behaviour management.
Emphasis on Knowledge and Practical Skills
During the programme, experts emphasized the importance of practical and collaborative approaches for identifying, assessing and effectively addressing the mental and behavioural needs of children with disabilities.
Addressing the session, Dr. Pargat Singh stated that coordination and exchange of knowledge among special educators, clinical psychologists, audiologists and speech-language pathologists play an important role in bringing positive changes in the field of rehabilitation.
Experts Mr. Devanand Pandey and Mr. Ramesh Pandey highlighted the importance of early identification of behavioural difficulties in children and developing appropriate intervention strategies through effective coordination with parents.
The programme featured sessions by various expert speakers, including Mr. Pargat Singh, Mr. Manpreet Singh, Ms. Sherrain Rattan, Mr. Sandeep Kumar, Mr. Gurtej Singh, Mr. Ramesh Kumar Pandey, Mr. Deva Nand Pandey, Mr. Jitesh Bhatia, Mr. Karuppasamy M., Mr. Hemant Sokhal, Ms. Chetna Khandelwal, Ms. Nisha Rathore, Ms. Jyoti Bains and Mr. Ashok Gurjar.
Collaborative Support for Effective Rehabilitation
The participants received useful information on understanding the mental health and behavioural needs of children with disabilities, identifying behavioural difficulties and providing effective support through coordination among children, parents and other professionals.
Mrs. Gurmeet Kaur, Principal of Speaking Hands Welfare Foundation, stated that such training programmes contribute to enhancing the knowledge and skills of professionals working in the fields of special education and rehabilitation, ultimately benefiting children with special needs.
Mr. Ashok Gurjar, Programme Coordinator, expressed his gratitude to all expert speakers and participants. He stated that the institution would continue its efforts to provide quality platforms for professional development and skill enhancement in the fields of special education and rehabilitation.
The programme was conducted under the guidance of Mrs. Gurmeet Kaur, Principal, Speaking Hands Welfare Foundation, with Mr. Ashok Gurjar playing an important role in programme coordination.
The CRE programme aimed to further strengthen the knowledge and professional skills of rehabilitation and special education professionals and promote effective and practical approaches towards mental health, behaviour management and psychosocial support for children with disabilities.
