National Handloom Day reminds us that design begins with the hand.
Every weave carries patience, culture, texture, and the intelligence of Indian craft. For students of Fashion Design and Interior Design, handloom is not just fabric. It is a lesson in material, form, detail, and identity.
At NIFD Rajkot, we honour the craft that continues to shape Indian design.

Every piece of wood carries a story.
Krupali Bhuva, an Interior Design student at NIFD Rajkot, transformed reclaimed wooden blocks from an old Indian home - once used as pillars - into a contemporary side table.
The function has changed, but the history remains. Because thoughtful design doesn’t erase the past; it preserves it and gives it a new purpose.
What would you create from a piece of history?

A collection that finds beauty in what is worn, torn, and unfinished.
Inspired by the idea of Adhura Phool, the Indian spirit of jugaad, and the quiet philosophy of wabi-sabi, this student fashion collection explores imperfection not as a flaw, but as a story.
Through layered fabrics, rich textures, detailed embroidery, and knitting, the garments reflect how even the incomplete can remain useful, meaningful, and beautiful.
A deeply expressive fashion design project by a NIFD Rajkot student, celebrating rawness, repair, and the poetry of the unfinished.

Jemini and Dipal’s collection at NIFD Rajkot explores the future of sustainable fashion through alternative natural fabrics.
Moving beyond commonly used textiles like cotton, linen, and silk, their work highlights the beauty and potential of banana fibers and pine fibers. The collection brings attention to lesser-known natural resources and shows how fashion design can stay innovative while remaining deeply connected to nature.
A thoughtful student fashion collection built on material exploration, sustainability, and conscious design.

From jewelry to garments, every detail becomes an ornament.

Tirtha & Paridha’s collection explores Indian jewelry aesthetics through a bold language of maximalism, richness, and intricate surface detail.

Crafted with Jamdani, brocade, and repurposed old sarees, the collection brings heritage textiles into a contemporary fashion statement. Layering, ornamentation, and texture come together to create silhouettes that feel regal, expressive, and deeply rooted in Indian craft.

Sketching a watch isn’t just drawing - it’s chasing precision. Complex geometry, tiny details, zero room for guesswork. That’s exactly why I picked it for this challenge.
Every sketch pushed my observational skills further, training my eye to translate 3D forms onto paper with real accuracy. And every bit of support from you all kept me showing up and getting better, one drawing at a time. 🙏
This one demanded patience. This one demanded focus. This one made me grow. 🎨
