Charkha STEM DIYPaying tribute to the father of our nation Mahatma Gandhi.• How to make :Step 1: Cut a circle and make spikes on one and measure it on the other and cut your Charka wheel.Step 2: Make holes like in the video and insert toothpicks to make a wheelStep 3: cut 2 long strips of cardboard for holding this wheel. It should be the same sizeStep 4: take a skewer and pass it through the middle of the round charka and the two long strips to make it stand (like in the video) and like a ferris wheelStep 5: take a toilet roll and put round cardboard ok the sides to close the open ends.Step 6: take two short strips of cardboard and using a skewer insert in the sstrip, then the toilet roll and then the strip again and glue the strips at exactly in front of the main wheel so they are aligned .Step 7: take a cotton twine and roll it on the toilet roll. Put the other end of the string through the wheel and back to the toilet roll .Step 8: you can glue the toothpicks on the sides with a glue gun but don't use glue in the middle skewer and no glue on the toilet roll@as you have to let it rotate .The charkha, or spinning wheel, was the physical embodiment and symbol of Gandhi's constructive program.It represents Swadeshi, self-sufficiency, and at the same time interdependence, because the wheel is at the center of a network of cotton growers, carders, weavers, distributors, and users..
