(One Belt One Road)

China has integrated the blueprint of the famous Silk Road Economic Belt (SREB) and the 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road (MSR)—the twin initiatives covered by the conceptual umbrella of the “One Belt One Road”.

The “belt and road” run through the continents of Asia, Europe and Africa, connecting the vibrant East Asian economic circle at one end with the developed European economic circle at the other.

One Belt and One Road is one of the most important project for China as it connects china with western world.This project push China's to take a bigger role in global affairs and establish china as a major global economic force in the world especially in manufacturing sectors.One Belt, One Road has been contrasted with the two US-centric trading arrangements, the Trans-Pacific Partnership and the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership. OBOR can be big, indeed. In its largest definition, OBOR would include 65 countries, 4.4 billion people and about 40 percent of global GDP. China is backing the plan with considerable resources, setting up a New Silk Road Fund of $40 billion to promote private investment along OBOR. The New Silk Road Fund is sponsored by China’s foreign exchange reserves, as well as government investment and lending arms.

China wishes to leverage Tibet’s geographic location to extend a Silk Road node to Nepal. It wants to connect with Nepal and South Asia through an extension of the Qinghai-Tibet railway.
The rail line from Lhasa has already been extended to Shigatse, Tibet’s second largest city. The Chinese plan to build two lines from Shigatse. One would lead to Kerung, the nearest Chinese town from Nepal, from where it would be extended to Rasuwagadhi in Nepal. The other line would head to Yadong on the India-Bhutan border.

India's role in One Belt and One Road project

For India One Belt and One Road project can seen as an opportunity to join hand with china and be a part of the development. The main concern of india is the role of pakistan. As we all know that china has always supported pakistan and also the involvement of pakistan along with china against india is a major threat for india. But one thing that actually favours india is the lage market of india on which china depend heavenly as most of the chinese product are dumped in india.

New Delhi has to analyse the importance of china's one belt and one road project as it directly connects the whole world to china and India has to decide whether they utilize this opportunity or stay back.
