Parapsychology is a discipline that attempts to investigate whether or not psychic abilities exist after death, using the scientific method. Parapsychology is related to those supernormal powers of human beings, which cannot be explained by the general psychological theories prevalent till now. There is no help even from physical concepts in knowing the explanation of these natural and strange-seeming paranormal events or processes.
It is no wonder that even today parapsychology is viewed with scientific skepticism and disdain. But in reality, there is no such subject as parapsychology, witchcraft, occultism, witchcraft or ta**ra mantra. The main objective of parapsychology is the methodical and orderly study of these so-called natural, paraphysical and parapsychological, supernormal phenomena or processes that appear to be extraordinary.
The history of parapsychology in India is very old. But the study of these so-called supernatural phenomena at the scientific level is the gift of the nineteenth century. Prior to this, there was no organized scientific effort towards understanding these so-called mysterious phenomena.
The beginning of modern parapsychology should be considered from 1882, the year in which the "Society for Psychical Research" (S.P.R.) was established in London for parapsychological research. Although even before this there were institutions like "Ghost Society" in Cambridge and "Phasmatological Society" in Oxford. But an organized scientific effort was started by "S.P.R." Happened since its inception.
Whose first meeting was held on July 17, 1882, under the chairmanship of the famous philosopher Henry Sidgwick. Its founders included Henry Sidgwick, his wife E.M. Sidgwick, Arthur and Gerald Balfour, Lord Rayleigh, F.B. W. H. Myers and the physicist Sir William Barrett.
