On January 15, 2025, during the annual press conference in Pune, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi addressed several critical issues concerning India's national security.
Northern Border with China:
General Dwivedi described the situation along the northern border as "sensitive but stable," emphasizing the Indian Army's readiness to handle any scenario. He stated, "We have to make sure that what happened in Galwan does not recur."
Western Border with Pakistan:
The Army Chief labeled Pakistan as the "epicenter of terrorism," noting that 80% of terrorists active in Jammu and Kashmir are of Pakistani origin. He highlighted ongoing infiltration attempts from Pakistan but mentioned that the 2021 ceasefire agreement is largely holding.
Operational Preparedness:
General Dwivedi assured that the Indian Army is fully prepared and capable of dealing with any situation, stating, "We are fully ready and capable to deal with any situation."
