Hareli: A Celebration Rooted in the Soil of Chhattisgar

Hareli, one of Chhattisgarh’s most cherished traditional festivals, carries the spirit of a land where agriculture is not merely a livelihood, but a way of life. Celebrated during the monsoon season, Hareli marks a time when the fields awaken with new hope and farmers pray for a prosperous harvest.

On this day, agricultural tools are worshipped, cattle are cared for and decorated, and neem leaves are traditionally placed at homes as a symbol of protection and well-being. Children celebrate with gedi, adding a joyful touch to this deeply rooted cultural tradition.

More than a festival, Hareli represents the enduring bond between people, soil, nature and tradition—a heritage passed from one generation to the next.

On 8 August 1942, Mahatma Gandhi gave the historic call for the Quit India Movement, demanding an end to British rule in India. The movement soon became a powerful nationwide struggle, with people from all walks of life coming together with courage, unity, and determination.

Our students brought this important chapter of India’s freedom struggle to life through their presentation—exploring the origin, significance, key events, and the sacrifices of those who stood for India’s freedom.

A reminder that the freedom we cherish today was built on courage, unity, and the unwavering spirit of our people. 🇮🇳
