भगवान जगन्नाथ, को कलयुग का भगवान भी कहते है। भगवान जगन्नाथ अपने भाई बलराम व बहिन सुबद्रा के साथ रथ पर सवार होकर गुंडिचा मंदिर जाते हैं। भगवान जगन्नाथ की इस यात्रा को रोकना संभव नहीं, इस रथ को रोकने के कई प्रयत्न सालो से किये गए है, पर कभी भी किसी को भी इसमें सफलता नहीं मिली. रथ यात्रा के इसी प्रभाव से प्रभावित होकर आंग्ल भाषा (इंग्लिश) में इसे एक NOUN JUGGERNAUT का स्थान मिला है, जिसका अर्थ होता हे कभी ना रुकने वाला।
