Samvaad - The HNLU Letter

Samvaad - The HNLU Letter Legal Newsletter. Subscribe to us at [email protected] Every college is a community, and in the context of HNLU, it is even more so. K.

Being a home away from home, the university serves to all of us a purpose greater than legal learning. It is here that our future selves are shaped and our convictions gain ground. We learn much of what will define each one of us here – in terms of our knowledge, our approach towards situations as well as towards people. Samvaad is an endeavour to connect the old with the new. It is an attempt to

keep learning from people who have shaped the present culture of the college. We try to reach out to those who have been there, done that and are willing to share their story. This is not very different from a random conversation with a senior on a lazy Saturday morning. Our venture just makes these conversations a little more permanent. We hope to connect our people scattered across the country (and outside), reach out to them so that we can take back into our fold those whose vision made HNLU what it is today. The theme for our first issue was mooting and such alumni as Debajyoti Das and Arya Tripathi shared their experience. With the second issue, we briefly touched upon litigation as a career option, in which we had Senior Supreme Court Advocate Mr. Rai as well as Anand Shankar Jha and other alumni sharing their experiences.

The best time in HNLU, I believe is when you are about to get admission and you get the most attention you can get from the HNLU administration in the next five years. Though after the admission process is over you are compelled to believe that from now on you are taken for granted. But who could make them realise that understafing of administrative sections in HNLU takes toll not only on existing students but also on the graduating batch and the alumni. For example, it is a well known fact that alumni across five batches are still waiting for their convocation and hold valid full-time degree in their hands. In fact some of the alumni have got their master's degree and are still waiting for UG. Another, example is of the outgoing batch who have to wait for their results for eternity when it is a known fact that their future employers will be definitely be interested in their final results and for the sake of formality, at least in their mark-sheet and provisional degrees. Do share your thoughts!!!:

For the first time in the history of HNLU the Administration has come out candidly accepting the "problem of availability of experienced and expert faculty" in the University. A notification on the University website supports a campaign requiring "Expression of Interest for Empanelment of Associate Faculty" which envisages "offering of short course or delivery of a series of lectures in a specialized area of law". Do visit the page and share your comments and views on the same.
