The university has grown enormously over the last 51 years in terms of number of students as well as disciplines, viz., humanities, natural science, law, education, pharmacy, management, physical education, library science and computer science, etc. There are 29 school of studies and various colleges are affiliated to the university.The campus of University is spread in 207 acres of land.The university campus also houses a building including a hostel for All India Services Pre-Examination Center for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes and a girls' hostel for post-metric SC and ST students. The University offers various value added services to it's students for their benefit . The university plays a major role in the educational, cultural and economic life of the region. The University headquarters are located in the western part of Raipur city. It is well connected by air, rail and road between Howrah and Mumbai, and lies on NH-6. The campus is located at about 10 kilometers from the airport and about 4 kilometers from the railway station.
