Hello Guys,
It’s been a long while there is no update on this page. Seeing this a very opportunistic time I am compelled to write this post. Globally markets have seen correction with Indian market going down ~30% from its recent peak. Economies are going to contract in near term due to supply chain disruptions caused by COVID-19 but whenever in near term there is recovery it will very quick V-shaped recovery. Market have fallen with pace on very low volumes so refrain from contemplating this situation to 2008. No doubt, after global financial crisis there has been significant rise in house hold & gdp-debt levels with low interest rates leading to higher asset valuations. But this situation has come after a decade – so wisely never let a crisis go to waste.
Few things I would like to share,
1) Open a zerodha account, cheapest discount broker
2) Avoid entering small caps mid-caps if doing this on tips or news channels interviews. There are certain skill-sets required when identifying companies in small caps and mid-caps segments where beginners or part time investors won’t have an edge
3) Avoid using leverage in markets specially beginners (derivatives are not for everyone even if you get success in few trades overall net sum of all trades would be in losses)
4) Invest in well discovered and covered companies. Here you dont need any expert or financial advisors advice
5) Invest with only free cash which you won’t need for minimum next 2-3 years. Post tax FD will give returns of 5.5% when there are companies which are giving dividends yield of 4-5% & keeping capital appreciation aside so why keep your money in FD’s. Just a thought to ponder upon!
6) I have compiled a list of stocks which you can start building positions, for beginners say equally, these companies are strong franchisee based companies with sound businesses and financials. These can be considered for starting you own personal portfolio. In these stocks you losses are bound only towards macros and sentiments and would see faster recovery whenever situation normal.
7) No one can time the markets exactly (finding bottom or top) so don’t behave as if it is end of world by looking at stock price movement. Prices are more volatile than value of business.
