Attack occurred during Friday prayers on February 6, 2026: su***de bomber stopped by guards at entrance, detonated explosives outside. Casualties: 24-31 killed, 100-170 injured.

President Droupadi Murmu approved the Sena Medal (Posthumous) for Havildar Jhantu Ali Sheikh of the elite 6 Para (Special Forces) on Republic Day, recognizing his supreme sacrifice during Operation Birli Gali in Udhampur, Jammu & Kashmir.
From Patharghata village in West Bengal's Nadia district, Sheikh joined the Army in 2008, following his brother Subedar Rafiqur Ali.
On April 24, 2025, during a joint op with J&K Police against militants post-Pahalgam attack, he engaged terrorists at close range despite fatal injuries, aiding mission success. Survived by wife Shahnaz, son, daughter, and parents, his bravery inspires the nation.� The White Knight Corps saluted his spirit amid 70 gallantry awards.

Jammu and Kashmir's Doda district, a tragic accident occurred on January 22, 2026, when an Indian Army bulletproof vehicle carrying personnel skidded off the Bhaderwah-Chamba road at 9,000-foot-high Khanni Top and plunged into a 200-foot gorge.
Ten soldiers were killed, with reports confirming four died on-site and others succumbing to injuries; 10-11 others sustained injuries, some critical and airlifted to Udhampur military hospital.
The vehicle was en route to a high-altitude operation amid treacherous terrain and bad weather. Rescue efforts by Army, police, and locals were swift. Lt Governor Manoj Sinha expressed condolences, honoring the soldiers' sacrifice.
