Difference between 'PUT', 'PATCH' and 'MERGE'

PUT - When we send a PUT request to a resource, we are essentially replacing the entire resource with the new representation provided in the request body. If the resource exists, PUT will replace it. If it doesn't exist, PUT will create it.

PATCH - The PATCH method is used to partially update a resource, meaning that only the specified fields or properties in the request are modified, leaving the rest of the resource unchanged. Unlike PUT, which replaces the entire resource, PATCH is used for making partial modifications to a resource

MERGE - The MERGE method is similar to PATCH, but it's not as commonly used in standard HTTP methods. It is often associated with the WebDAV protocol, which extends HTTP for collaborative editing of files on remote web servers. Like PATCH, MERGE is used for partial updates to a resource, where only specified fields are modified.
