At SMEF’s Brick School of Architecture, learning is shaped through conversations that challenge perspectives and expand possibilities.

We were honoured to host Ar. Prasad Vaidya for an engaging session with our students on March 26th, 2026.

From insights on Solar Decathlon India to the importance of net-zero, performance-driven design, the session encouraged students to think beyond form: to design with empathy, back decisions with data, and approach architecture with both depth and curiosity.

It was an inspiring exchange that continues to influence how our students think, design, and engage with the future of architecture.

Organised by the Maharashtra State Marathi Vishvakosh Nirmiti Mandal and the Council of Architecture Training & Research Centre Pune, this initiative of Architecture – Architectural Science Documentation Workshop contributes to the Marathi Vishvakosh, preserving and documenting architectural knowledge in the regional language.

Such scholarly efforts from our faculty members Sudhir Ramesh Deshpande and Rasika Apte reflect our commitment to bridging traditional wisdom with contemporary architectural science, ensuring knowledge is not only advanced but also accessible.

Celebrating the depth of architectural thought through the richness of the Marathi language. At the 5th State-Level Marathi Conference on Architecture, organised by BKPS College of Architecture in collaboration with the Directorate of Technical Education, Pune, faculty from SMEF’s BSOA made a remarkable academic contribution.

Ar. Rasika Apte explored the role of space as a narrative force in Tumbadche Khot, while Dr. Sudhir Deshpande presented his research on Veergal as cultural markers of memory and valour, and was felicitated for his fifth consecutive presentation at the conference. Ar. Jayalaxmi Deshmukh further contributed with her insights on architecture, psychology, and cultural space in the online sessions.

Together, these contributions reflect a strong commitment to critical inquiry, regional language scholarship, and interdisciplinary exploration.

Learning design, the way it’s meant to be, through dialogue and critique.

SMEF’s Brick School of Architecture hosted Manthan, a Design Discussion Workshop for Third Year B.Arch (AD V Subject), where students presented their office typology proposals for Hyderabad.

Guided by industry experts - Ar. Pushkar Peshwa, Ar. Ketan Nanal, Ar. Vandana Labba, Ar. Pranav Iyer, and Ar. Megha Kulkarni, students received in-depth, one-on-one feedback to refine and evolve their ideas.

The workshop culminated in collective discussions on key design aspects like site planning, parking, form, environment, and architectural expression.

Steel structures continue to redefine modern architecture through their flexibility, strength, and sustainability.

SMEF’s Brick School of Architecture hosted an expert review session led by our faculty, Hemant Joshi and Sudhir Deshpande, with esteemed industry professionals Dr. Milinda Mahajan and Er. Bal Kulkarni.

Third-year B.Arch students showcased a wide range of projects, exploring truss systems, joinery detailing, and core steel construction principles.

It was an insightful session that deepened technical knowledge and strengthened industry readiness.

We were delighted to welcome back our M.Arch (Design & Project Management) alumna, Ar. Ayesha Dabir, for an engaging session with our current batch.

Now working with Cushman & Wakefield, Ar. Ayesha shared her journey from campus to corporate, highlighting the importance of PMI & PCERF memberships and how earning her CAPM certification helped shape her career.

We are proud to share that faculty members Girija Indulkar (Principal Investigator) and Rajlakshmi Dubey (Co-Investigator) from BRICK School of Architecture have been awarded the prestigious ASPIRE Research Mentorship Grant by Savitribai Phule Pune University.

Their research project, Green Shields: Scalable DIY Solutions for Cleaner Cities, focuses on developing practical, community-driven interventions that empower citizens, institutions, and local bodies to improve urban environmental quality through accessible, small-scale actions.

This grant is a recognition of BRICK’s commitment to research that is not just academic, but actionable, relevant, and deeply connected to the cities we live in.
