Healthcare Management Institute, KEM Hospital Pune

Healthcare Management Institute of KEM Hospital is located on the 6th floor of Banoo Coyaji building opposite the Diabetes Unit. HMI, as it is more commonly known, was started in 2007 with an aim to train graduates and diploma holders in any discipline and General Nurse Midwives (GNMs) to become more capable and efficient hospital administrators. HMI conducts the Postgraduate Diploma in Hospital Management program (PGDHM) under the Savitribai Phule Pune University. It is a one year part time program with a maximum intake capacity of 60 students. Students come from different parts of India and also from other countries. The age ranges from 25 to over 60 years – chief medical officers, senior doctors from CGHS, matrons and nurses, colonels in the army and marketing professionals studying alongside fresh graduates. Over the years, HMI has gained enormous popularity, mainly due to the excellent quality of teaching by the faculty, provision of exhaustive study materials and books and training, not just in subjects, but also in soft skills, interview techniques and management skills.
The second course is Certificate Course in Hospital Accreditation (CCHA).In order to provide training in quality measures in healthcare and make students aware of NABH standards, HMI launched a new certificate course in hospital accreditation in December 2018. The course has 8 modules and is conducted over a period of 8 weeks only on Sundays to enable working healthcare professionals participate in the program. To date 3 batches have been completed.
