Council Call Highlights
In This week's council call, we explored how facilitation begins within.
Most facilitators think their power lies in tools, activities, and techniques.
It doesn’t.
It lies in self-awareness.
In applied theatre, you are the instrument.
Your presence, your biases, your emotional responses, your energy—these shape the space far more than any exercise you design.
You may intend to create a safe, open, participatory environment…
But if you are unaware of your triggers, judgments, or need for control, the group will feel it.
And that’s where the real work begins.
👉 Self-awareness is not a “soft skill”
👉 It is a core facilitation skill
Because the moment you become aware of how you show up,
you gain the power to choose how you respond.
That’s the difference between running a session…
and holding a transformative space.

Council Call Updates | L1 Silver Members
This week’s Council Call was an enriching and insightful session for our L1 Silver Members.
ATI Foundation’s alumni, Vaishali and Trupti, shared their recent field experience of conducting an Applied Theatre workshop at a de-addiction center. They thoughtfully walked members through their journey—how they approached the center, selected the workshop theme, and designed the process.
They also highlighted important aspects such as:
•Do’s and Don’ts during sessions
•Maintaining participants’ privacy and dignity
•Structuring the workshop using Applied Theatre methodologies
•Reflections on participant and management feedback
The session became even more engaging as fellow members actively participated with thoughtful questions and discussions.
Learning through real field experiences is truly inspiring.
This is the magic of Applied Theatre.
