एक जर्मन म्हण आहे - Ein Bild sagt mehr als 1000 Worte - म्हणजेच 1000 शब्द जे सांगू शकत नाही ते एखादे चित्र सहजतेने सांगून जाते. ही म्हण अतिशयोक्ती असली तरीही चित्रे अधिक चांगल्या पद्धतीने भावना किंवा एखादी गोष्ट व्यक्त करू शकतात हे आपल्याला माहितच आहे. यामुळेच, जाहिरातींमध्ये वगैरे अनेक चित्रे वापरली जातात. लहानपणी मुलांच्या पुस्तकातही याच कारणासाठी चित्रे दिलेली असतात. चित्रांसोबत शब्दही असतात. चित्रापेक्षा शब्द भाषा शिकवण्याचे वेगळे कार्य करतात पण चित्र आणि शब्द एकत्रितपणे असल्यास बर्‍याच गोष्टी एकाचवेळी समजतात. लहानपणी 'A for Apple' शिकतांना चित्र दखवल्याने मुलांना Apple चा shape, colour, spelling, pronunciation इत्यादी गोष्टी एकदाच समजल्या!

याच संकल्पनेचा आधार घेऊन मी मुलांसाठी 'English-Vinglish Pictionary' हे चित्र-शब्दकोष तयार केले आहे. या चित्र-शब्दकोषामध्ये मुलांना (आणि मोठ्यांनाही) परिचित-अपरिचित असलेल्या अनेक विषयांच्या English शब्दांचा आणि चित्रांचा समावेश आहे, जसे की - _Animals, Birds, Insects, Colors, Feelings, Fruits, Vegetables, Jobs/Professions, School Subjects, Sports, Vehicles, Action Verbs, Cooking Verbs, Movement Verbs, Prepositions, Daily Routine Words, Classroom Verbs, Activities/Hobbies, Collective Nouns, Classroom Objects, Parts of House, Bedroom - Kitchen - Living room Objects, Shapes_ आणि अजून बरेच काही. हे सर्व मुलांना त्यांच्या आवडीच्या gadgets वर म्हणजेच Mobile, Tab, Computer किंवा अगदी TV वरही (flashcard स्वरूपात) बघता येणार आहे.

मुलांना स्वारस्य असलेल्या आणि नसलेल्या दोन्ही प्रकारच्या विषयांसह Pictionary मधली चित्रे आणि शब्द आपल्या मुलाच्या नैसर्गिक उत्सुकतेस नक्कीच प्रोत्साहित करेल आणि त्यांना आवडीने English Vocabulary शिकण्यास मदत करेल. English शब्दांवर प्रभुत्व मिळविण्याच्या प्रक्रियेस अधिक मनोरंजक बनविण्यासाठी आणि तुमच्या मुलांसाठी तुम्हीसुध्दा 'English-Vinglish Pictionary' या चित्र-शब्दकोषाचा वापर करणे सुरू करू शकता.
