Faculty development programs (FDPs) are designed to train and develop b-school faculties, corporate executives who aspire to take transition in their career as management faculty or fresh masters in management pass outs who wishes to join b-school as faculty while continuing their doctoral research so they can guide and motivate budding managers enroll for MBA/PGDM programs. FDPs provide input on process and practice of teaching management, individual development, communication, inter-personal skills, creativity, problem solving, motivation and other skills, inputs on teaching aids, teaching methodologies, importance of problem centered education and how to overcome resistance of faculty and students when participant centered methodologies are adopted. The major focus of the FDP is on upgrading the teaching, training, research and writing skills of management teachers—especially those teachers who have not had an opportunity to update themselves in teaching & research methods. To fill the gap between requirement and availability of faculties in higher education, many industry leaders and managers aspire to be teacher.
