The Department of AIHC & Archaeology is organising a one-day symposium on the theme "Benefits and Burdens of Colonial Legacy with Reference to Indological Studies".
The symposium will be held on 23rd April 2026 in the Convocation Hall, Department of AIHC and Archaeology.
The primary objective of this symposium is to critically examine and discuss the various perspectives that have emerged in Indological studies since the colonial period.
Faculty members and students interested in presenting papers or posters are requested to submit their titles along with a brief abstract on or before 18th April 2026.

In accordance with the National Task Force (NTF) and UGC guidelines for emotional well-being, the Mental Health Programme of Deccan College, in collaboration with Connecting Trust, Pune, organized a mandatory sensitization session for students, faculty, and non-teaching staff on 14th and 26th March. The programme focused on su***de prevention through gatekeeper training, emotional awareness, and the early identification of distress signs to foster a supportive and non-judgmental campus environment. By integrating these expert-led workshops, the institution has established a proactive support system aimed at reducing stigma and ensuring the holistic safety and well-being of the entire academic community.

The All India Rupaka Mahotsava is an annual national-level Sanskrit drama festival organized by the university to promote theatrical skills and creative talents among students studying Sanskrit.
Under the patronage of Prof. Shrinivasa Varakhedi, Vice-Chancellor, Central Sanskrit University, and under the able guidance of Prof. Prasad Joshi, Director, Centre of IKS-EDS and Vice-Chancellor(I/c) of Deccan College PGRI, this Mahotsava is being organized for the first time in Pune.
The three-day festival will witness the participation of around 400 students from different campuses of the University.

आंतरराष्ट्रीय कीर्तीचे प्राच्यविद्या संशोधक प्रा. डॉ. मधुकर अनंत मेहेंदळे
यांच्या स्मृतीप्रीत्यर्थ घेण्यात येणाऱ्या सहाव्या चर्चासत्राचे आयोजन
डेक्कन कॉलेज अभिमत विद्यापीठात दि. 14 फेब्रु. रोजी करण्यात आले.
या चर्चासत्रात एकूण दहा शोधनिबंधांचे सादरीकरण होऊन त्यावर
प्रश्नोत्तरे झाली.

या शोधनिबंधाला प्रथम पारितोषिक तसेच राधिका देशपांडे यांच्या
Interpreting the Sāmavedasaptalakṣaṇa: Textual Ambiguities and
Methodological Issues या शोधनिबंधाला द्वितीय पारितोषिक जाहीर
करण्यात आले, तर तृतीय पारितोषिक गोविंद मोपकर व प्रथमेश
बिवलकर यांना विभागून देण्यात आले. परीक्षक म्हणून ज्येष्ठ
भाषाशास्त्रज्ञ डॉ. नीती बडवे, संस्कृतज्ञ प्रा. डॉ. माधवी कोल्हटकर व
प्रा. डॉ. पूर्णचंद्र साहू यांनी काम पाहिले.
या प्रसंगी प्रख्यात संस्कृतज्ञ डॉ. अमृता नातू व डॉ. श्रीनंद बापट यांनी
सादर केलेले शोधनिबंध हे या कार्यक्रमाचे एक वैशिष्ट्य ठरले. डेक्कन
कॉलेजचे मा. कुलगुरू प्रा. डॉ. प्रसाद जोशी तसेच अधिष्ठाता प्रा. डॉ.
सोनल कुलकर्णी यांसहित कॉलेजच्या विविध विभागांतील प्राध्यापक व
विद्यार्थीवर्ग या वेळी उपस्थित होता. प्रा. जोशी यांनी यांनी प्रास्ताविक
केले, तर प्रा. कुलकर्णी यांनी उपस्थितांचे आभार मानले. तनुश्री
रांजणगावकर व श्रेया पोंक्षे यांनी कार्यक्रमाचे सूत्रसंचालन केले. या
कार्यक्रमाचे समन्वयक म्हणून डॉ. बन्सी लव्हाळे व डॉ. ऋचा अभ्यंकर
यांनी कार्य केले.
