Kargil Vijay Diwas, observed on July 26th each year, commemorates India's victory in the Kargil War against Pakistan in 1999.

This day honors the bravery and sacrifice of the Indian armed forces who fought in the challenging terrains of the Kargil district in Jammu and Kashmir.

The conflict, which lasted from May to July 1999, saw Indian soldiers reclaim strategic high-altitude outposts occupied by Pakistani infiltrators.

Kargil Vijay Diwas serves as a reminder of the nation's military prowess and the valiant efforts of the soldiers who ensured India's territorial integrity.
