After exploring Europe, starting from France and journeying through Germany, the Netherlands, and the Czech Republic, Joel has now embarked on a new adventure—he's started his own business!

Following his encounters with industry leaders and visits to powerhouses like Porsche and Bayer, Joel decided to carve his path as an IT networking engineer. What's even more inspiring is that his motivation and autonomy didn't stop there. Joel is not only building his success solo but is also extending a helping hand to fellow alumni, guiding them to secure great jobs in Europe. Similar to the vibrant celebrations of Diwali in India, Lyon's Festival of Lights illuminates the city with joy and enchantment !

In 1643, Lyon was facing a severe outbreak of the plague. In their desperation, the people of Lyon made a vow to the Virgin Mary, promising to pay tribute to her annually if she interceded and spared the city from the epidemic.

When Lyon was indeed spared from the plague, the people kept their promise. The tradition began with households placing candles in their windows on December 8th, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, as a symbol of gratitude to the Virgin Mary. Over time, this gesture of illuminating the city evolved into the spectacular Festival of Lights we know today.

The festival has grown into a grand celebration, with stunning light displays, art installations, and cultural events taking place across Lyon. It remains a beautiful testament to the city's history, faith, and the enduring spirit of community. La Fête des Lumières is not only a visual spectacle but a heartfelt tribute to the Virgin Mary and the enduring bond between the people of Lyon and their beloved city.
