This research highlights the IOR as a critical strategic theatre where China’s expanding undersea capabilities and maritime infrastructure have significant implications for regional security and UDA. At the same time, the study acknowledges ongoing technical challenges, including acoustic communication, energy endurance, biofouling, and corrosion, which continue to shape the operational potential of these emerging technologies.
