Kumon Story

Kumon History- One father’s love for his son gave birth to the Kumon method of learning, one of the largest after-school programme in the world. It was in 1954 when Toru Kumon, a high school Math teacher in Japan created handmade worksheets for his son Takeshi to develop his Maths skills. As a result, Takeshi quickly developed his academic ability with the help of the worksheets. Toru Kumon then decided to develop the potential of as many children as possible with his learning method and it led to the birth of Kumon.

About Kumon- Kumon is present in 50 countries and regions globally. Kumon began its journey in India in 2005 and since then it has spread across 30 cities with over 137 centres, both in India and Sri Lanka. The Kumon Method emphasises on self-learning; enabling students to do their work and correct mistakes on their own. Our Instructors discover each student’s level of academic ability, assign worksheets and help them to become independent learners.
