Teens Identity Crisis
Teenage is a phase when young minds are going through multiple experiences. It is a transitional period where physical and psychological changes happening. They are coping with numerous thoughts and determining who they are, what they want to be, where do they fit, and where they don't. It can be an emotional and exhausting journey. At times difficult to recognize what teens are going through in their quest to identity
Most parents confront real challenges in handling their teens. The transition of an affectionate and obedient child into rebellious, arguing or extremely quiet youth creates concern and worries in the parents.
Have you ever thought about what makes an identity crisis so intense in the teenage years? Hitting puberty, hormonal changes, schoolwork becomes demanding and extracurricular activities began to challenge. What career, future, competition bother.
In short changes in various levels - physical, mental, social, and psychological. This makes them feel confused, frightened, and lack confidence.
Physically - their bodily changes may make them feel awkward and self-conscious. Many of them experience intense sexual feelings- they need to be guided.
Emotionally - they experience mood swings and they discover a wide range of human emotions.
Intellectually - they learn to analyze and develop their own perspective and opinion.
This is a time when they are under greater pressure as compared to their younger years. Their requirement for parental support is more than ever. As parents of teens, you need extra understanding, skill, and compassion in decoding confusions and building their identity.
