Hello everyone!
We are the iGEM Team 2022, IISER Pune. iGEM (International Genetically Engineered Machine) is the largest international synthetic biology competition.
We are working on helping farmers of the country by developing a bacterium that will prevent the mass destruction of plants in waterlogged fields.
This will directly improve the income of poor farmers, and impact the agricultural output and national income, while also shedding light on an often overlooked problem that countless farmers suffer from.
To make our project a reality, we need your help! No contribution is small, and we would be grateful for every contribution.

“Science means constantly walking a tightrope between blind faith and curiosity; between expertise and creativity; between bias and openness; between experience and epiphany; between ambition and passion and between arrogance and conviction – in short between an old today and a new tomorrow.” – Henrich Rohrer.

"The Black skin is not a badge of shame but rather a glorious symbol of national greatness." — Marcus Garvey.
Black History Month was first observed in 1926. It was introduced by an eminent American historian, Carter G Woodson, known as the “Father of Black History.”
February was chosen for the week-long observance as it coincides with the birthdates of both former US President Abraham Lincoln and social reformer Frederick Douglass. Both men played a significant role in helping to end slavery.

When we search for famous scientists, most of them turn out to be men. This is because either women didn't have an opportunity to study science or they weren't acknowledged enough. Let's hope that we can bridge this gender gap and get more such motivating scientists!

India has been engaged in science since ancient history and we have had many Indian women scientists who have made huge contributions to the scientific community. Kiran Mazumdar Shaw is just one of them!
