At TARA, we provide Counseling, Coaching and Healing to enable individuals, organizations and educational institutions to Transform self, Adapt to situations, Rediscover resourcefulness and Act to make change happen. In my study of the Mahayana Buddhism, I was most inspired by Tara, whose name means “she who ferries across.” Tara is a bodhisattva of compassion who manifests in female form. In part
icular, she represents compassion in action, since she’s in the process of stepping from her lotus throne in order to help sentient beings. She is known as the "mother of liberation", and represents the virtues of success in work and achievements. In Hindi and many other languages Tara means star and for me a star is what ancient mariners used to help guide them to safety while they were at sea. Tara is also my grandmother’s name and it evokes a sense of wisdom and comfort for me. With such close associations and inspiration the name TARA made perfect sense. TARA also became a very apt acronym for the work I have chosen to do – Help people and myself to Transform, Adapt, Rediscover and Act in a way which corresponds to the highest good for the individual. The Logo: Conceptualizing this logo took lesser time than designing it! I wanted something that would encompass what I wanted to communicate. A safe space, a place where focus is sharpened, awareness is heightened and spirit is strengthened. Each element of the logo is very special and has come out of my study, experience and intention. The Outer Lotus Mandala - A Mandala is a spiritual symbol which represents the universe. It focuses attention and establishes a sacred space. A Mandala represents an enlightened mind. I chose Violet -the color of the Sahasrara Chakra -it is the color of cosmic awareness and cosmic consciousness. It is a unifying color, the color of oneness and spirituality. The energy of this color is very healing and can soothe away pain. The Inner Blue Lotus – The lotus flower has always been associated with the triumph of the spirit. A lotus slowly emerges over a three day period and then blooms for half a day. It is surrounded by murky water and its blooming stands for enlightenment and awakening. The Blue Lotus is used as a metaphor for the sun and re birth. The color is associated with the refinement of the mind and body, and the ability to blossom and become liberated. Various Colors used- The logo contains the colors of the 4 elements – Air, Water, Earth and Fire. These four are commonly believed to be at the root of all existing matter. The letter A is written in the form of the Air element. Air is associated with the psyche and intelligence. Concentric Circles- The concentric circles are layers of meaning. Like a rain drop touching a lake and forming concentric ripples, all our actions are interrelated and affect the environment.
