From August 4–8, 2025, Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. visited India, marking a big step in strengthening the friendship between the two countries. During the visit, both sides agreed to start a Strategic Partnership to work together more in defence, maritime security, trade, etc. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that India and the Philippines are “friends by choice and partners by destiny.” As part of the agreements, the Philippines will allow Indian tourists to enter without a visa, and India will give free e-visas to Filipino visitors, helping build closer ties and more cooperation in the future.

The MD program spans 54 months, followed by a 12-month internship. Graduates—whether Filipino or international—can engage in limited roles such as research or teaching prior to licensure. Upon passing the Philippine Licensure Exam (PLE), they are eligible for full medical practice. Foreign graduates may also pursue medical careers in countries like the US, UK, and Canada without taking the PLE, provided they meet local licensing requirements. CHED emphasizes that the Philippine MD degree holds global competitiveness.
